Architecture - Santa Justa Lift
The iconic Santa Justa Lift is a Neo-Gothic style elevator designed by Raoul Mesnier de Ponsard. It is situated at the end of Rua de Santa Justa in Lisbon (Portugal) and connects the lower streets of the Baixa with the higher Largo do Carmo (Carmo Square). There are rumors that Mesnier was Gustav Eiffel's apprentice, even though there are no formal records stating this.
I took this photo down the shaft of the elevator putting my hand through the oldd-school gate (and gripping my camera tightly).
