Spring In Its Full Beauty - Apple Blossom
I've been posting about these amazing fruit blossoms for a week or so now. If you've missed my previous posts, please check them out:
I thought these two trees, the white wild cherry blossom and the pink wild cherry blossom are the only one that can make me admire a tree for ten minutes without saying anything. Well. I was wrong.
There were some heavy rains this week accompanied with wind, which caused most of the fruit blossoms to lose their petals. As I was saying before, these tiny little flowers have very sensitive petals and a strong wind or a heavy rain (or both) can destroy the blossom in a few minutes. That's why is key for a photographer to be at the right place at the right time.
I was lucky to see another beautiful fruit blossom that survived the bad weather and was waiting for me to take some shots :) Today I'd like to show you the crab apple blossom, also called Purple Prince. Another pink beauty you can't and should not miss if you're a photographer or nature lover.
These two trees looks like they are twins, they have the same height but one is more beautiful than the other. I know they have fruits but don't think of them as edible. These trees are situating next to a busy road, which makes they extremely polluted, unfortunately.
Crabapple fruit is not an important crop in most areas, being extremely sour due to malic acid (which like the genus derives from the Latin name mālum), and in some species woody, and for this reason is rarely eaten raw. source
I was saying these are not suitable for consumption as are being polluted heavily but if you can find some healthy crabapples, you should pick them.
Crabapples are an excellent source of pectin, and their juice can be made into a ruby-coloured preserve with a full, spicy flavour. A small percentage of crabapples in cider makes a more interesting flavour. As Old English Wergulu, the crab apple is one of the nine plants invoked in the pagan Anglo-Saxon Nine Herbs Charm, recorded in the 10th century. source
This is it for today, but stay tuned, magnolia is next, another wonderful flower that is blooming during spring :)

I am a man. I love pink😁😁😁
Pink is a beautiful color, I'm sure many people like it.
It is a shame the flowers break so easily, but it must make for a beautiful shower of petals in a breeze.
Oh God, I just saw I haven't replied to comments on this post. @ginnyannette. It's been a busy week for me and here are the consequences. I'm so sorry :( Wishing you Happy Easter.

I always do.
Beautiful crab apple flowers, and how wonderful the Purple Prince lives on in blossom - I bet these blossoms can even last out a full bought of Purple Rain.
I know what you mean about crab apples being sour, although I seem to remember my grandma used to favour them for chutney.

I guess it can be still eaten in a dish if you know how to make it. Thank you for running this challenge and for your support. Have a nice day 😊
