Beaches of Corfu - Places you must visit (another post about that amazing summer in Greece)

I wrote couple blog entries about magical island Corfu in Greece, about my history with that island, about amazing architecture of Kerkyra, and one stunning historical location to visit - Achilleion.

But what about first thing on your mind when somebody mention Greece and Summer: beaches, sea and sun? Well they are there too. And they are amazing! So let me take you to couple beaches around island which are, in my humble opinion, must see.

First of all, consider renting a boat. It's not that expensive, it will cost you around $60-$100 for a day with moderate fuel consumption. Key word is moderate - don't go full throttle, don't speed! I know it's hard, but with speeding it will cost you much more, and you can find yourself at some distant location without fuel and, by Murphy's law, there will be no cell network, and you will have to paddle for hours and hours... and it's not fun to paddle during night, not to mention that friendly Greeks can get quite mad and you do not want to see an angry Greek... don't ask me how I know all that ;)

With boat, you can easily travel from one small beach to another, visit numerous caves and smaller islands and enjoy swimming in some of the bluest water you ever sow. One of location's where you should consider boat is city Paleokastritsa. I will wrote about this town in one of separate posts, but let's just say that some of most beautiful small bays, coves and inlets are in vicinity of that city. Friendly Greeks will provide you a map for sure, and some instruction's where to go and what to see, but for sure visit Limni Beach, Kolias Beach and also Iliodoros and must see Chomi beach beach since they are inaccessible through land.

If you are more into sandy beaches, consider Glifada, Agios beach or some smaller beach in that area. Western side of island is trademarked with sandy beaches, and you will not mistake if choose any of them. But, a little bit more to south are, in my opinion the best sandy beaches - Halikounas and Issos Beach. On those beaches you will have feeling that you are on place where sand dunes meets sea - stunning and beautiful view.

And you cannot go through island Corfu without mention one of most colorful beaches in whole Greece - Canal d'Amour Beach. It's stunning, it's amazing, it's breathtaking and, most of all - it's romantic. Nature was working overtime there and created some of the most beautiful scenes, and people were equally creative to tell one of most romantic stories. Ask locals for full story, but in short - couple who swims out of the Canal d'Amour into the sunset are going to live Happily Ever After! To be honest, whenever I visited that beach, it was literally impossible to swim without risking your life, so I can imagine that couple who manage to swim out and survive should be happy ever after... or very happy to have after ;) But without kidding, it's amazing beach, and surrounding it's just stunning, so you must at least walk around and drink coffee while enjoying sunset.

That's not all, not even close, but we must end at some point. There are countless beaches on Corfu to enjoy. There are a lot of places to fall in love with, so don't make mistake and stay in one place. Rent a car, boat, take a bus or boat trip and explore! You will enjoy every step. And for sure, go with somebody you love - you will love that person even more after Corfu, and who knows; you may swim together out of Canal d'Amore and live happily ever after.

Corfu is beautiful! I have never been there, but I have heard about it before and after seeing this post I definitely want to go there. I don't think I have seen as blue water anywhere, and I love all those gorgeous cliff formations! I would love to see more of that paradise ^_^ Followed you!

Then for sure you should go to Greece. Corfu is just one of stunning places with amazing nature and crystal clear water. You will not mistake if you choose any of islands in Ionian or Aegean see (even clearer water imho). Greeks are very strict and careful about clarity of the sea, and polluting sea is something they do not forgive.
Thank you for follow, followed back :)

My dream is to go sailing from island to island :) And that's awesome that you care so much about the ocean there!

Actually it is available as regular holiday in Europe, probably in rest of the world too. You book sailboat (with crew or without) for week or more and sail around islands :D Sounds amazing, I'll will try that one summer.

Yes, I want to do that some summer as well! ^_^ I would do it with a group of friends instead of a crew.

Dejan - another great post, love your photos and story - very well done my friend!

In my opinion, Corfu is not inferior to the Dominican Republic. These views, sceneries, the color of sea, beaches, sunset are so terrific and beautiful. Thanks for sharing, I am going to follow you :)

I never been on Dominicana, but hopefully I will be there one day ;) But for sure, Greece is one beautiful location you should visit.
