If You Don't Like Mondays

in #photofeed7 years ago (edited)

Everybody seems to dread Mondays. I can't say that they are my favorite day of the week. But I also think Monday gets a bad rap. The most important tip I can give you to embrace Mondays is to make your work be doing something you love. You are going to spend 2.5 times the amount of hours in the workweek than the weekend in your life. So its important to make something of it other than a living!

I agree. It's easier said than done. Maybe steemit blockchain will change it. The only way to find out with that is to put on the blinders and work harder than you ever have before. Always remember, something worth doing is never a sprint. It is a marathon.

In the evenings during the week, which is my "free time," instead of teevee, I listen to music and develop the photos I have taken. I am never caught up with that. In the digital age, I can take way more photos than I can develop! I also spend time reading what you have created on Steemit. Sometimes I watch how-to videos to figure out how to accomplish something with my software. Other times I listen to Ted talks and such.

Right now, I'm doing research for my next chapter of "Adventures in Stock Photography." Here is the first chapter in case you missed it. Just about everybody did! https://steemit.com/photography/@visualcontent/stock-photography-or-the-first-step-1-0

I was developing a couple recent pics from this past Friday night and came across this one here and thought it just shouted Monday! Onwards and Upwards! Get Going! Carry on!

I appreciate both the quality text content and your awesome photograph. I feel inspired! I'm gradually making more time to blog, educate myself online, and contribute to the Steemit platform. Thanks for sharing motivation!

Thanks Minn! That works! Your words inspire me! Too often we are very hard on ourselves. But all it takes is a little push to take another step forward

Agreed! I've learned basic markdown with a free online tutorial.

Slowly adding style to my posts :)

Yes - i really need to do that too!

Here's my blog with a link to the site. It was really quick and easy to get the basics down. Note: the post is too old to vote or resteem, but the information is good :)

Awesome! Thanks! just knowing how to have a text link would be great for starters LOL

Yes! I love being able to make inline links! I'll have to look back at how to make pictures into clickable links. One step at a time. Except for when we take giant leaps, amiright :)

just did a couple of the exercises - up to the links part! Saved the page to return to. Thanks again!

Thanks for inspiring post! As you correctly mentioned - loving Mondays is easier said than done.
By the way - your images are not clickable. Is it intentionally? I think we all would benefit being able to enlarge them.

Thanks! It is said that I am either dust or plankton or both. As such I have not learned how to make an image click to larger. but i have learned some markdown now and show it off in my most recent post. As soon as I learn how to do it I will incorporate it into my posts!

Actually it is very simple to implement! When you add a photo to post, it looks something like this:

![ADS_1.jpg](image address)

All you need to get clickable image is to change the format as following:
[![ADS_1.jpg](image address)](image address)

You add square brackets around original format and then copy image address in circle brackets and paste it after the enclosing square bracket.

Try to edit this way one of your posts and see what happens :)

Thanks! Will try it!

That is a very good Monday picture. How did you get the sun to come down and play on that rock with you guys?

It is a naturally occurring phenomena here, where tall-building and desert dwellers come down to the coast each evening to literally push the sucker into the sea!

Im very happy you found it worthy of the resteem. Thanks!

This IS a beautiful photo!

And your absolutely right about making your work week something you enjoy. I used to have my job and literally cry on my drive to work.

Now, I love what I do; it energizes me! And I listen to motivating videos or podcasts on my drive in.

It sounds like you have find a great work/life balance too!

Thank you! What is humorous here is that I came to take photos of the sunset and they were there already. Instead of being bugged by that I realized I had a tremendous opportunity to capture images I would not have otherwise!

Right! It's all in how you look at things. Take what some would see as a negative and turn it into a benefit. Excellent perspective!

I would agree with you. I've had many more "Mondays" on other days of the week than I have actually had on Monday. But I think part of the problem a lot of people have is getting back into the routine of the week. It can be hard, especially if you had a weekend where anything but routine rules.
Thank you for the gentle reminder that Mondays aren't so bad. :-)

Im glad the post elicited these feelings for you. Don't get me wrong. I love my weekends! They are different from the other five days of the week. Its just that we have to come to terms with those 5 days! If we work to do what we love the weekends tend to meld into a 7 day plan!
