Good afternoon

If you've been following along since I joined Steemit 15 days ago you may have seen this post of Point Reyes. I spent about two weeks in Northern California last April and visited this location several times during the trip.

It's been a long day as I write this so I don't have any inspiring quotes, and won't waste your time with any feel good anecdotes. Instead I'll let the photos themselves take you away for a split second as you swipe past them. Nature has a way of calming us when we deliberately take the time to immerse ourselves and leave all distractions behind.

I do have to say that I've been heartily surprised by the amount of attention my posts have been getting. Reading through the trending page lately it's been easy to believe that even good quality content will never be found, and the only way to make yourself known around here is to use bots, schemes, and money to game yourself to the top. I'd like to disagree with this notion, but by all means, share your own actual opinion in the comments below. Positivity is great when it's genuine, but a little disheartening when it's forced.

I agree with you a bit there. There will be a lot of talented people and beautiful pictures that don't get noticed by everyone. But I feel as long as it is noticed by just one person who truly appreciates the effort, the beauty the dedication of the photo and photographer, it's enough to stay positive. At times I have thought that some of my work has slipped through as well. But when I start feeling this way I just switch my background to one of my pictures or print out one of my favorites to hang up. Nothing wrong with self appreciation! :)

p.s. Beautiful photos :)

So I re read what I posted and I think it came across a little confusing. I was trying to say two separate things in hindsight.

  • One: I believe that good content and quality posting will get recognized on here without the need for gaming the system with bots and money.
  • Two: Regarding positivity, I have noticed a tendency in myself and I have noticed it in others that there is a false sense of everything here being rosy and great for fear of getting down voted or flagged. I think the rewards system is psychologically making us all artificially positive, although I appreciate a side effect of that in keeping us from undue negativity.

Gotcha, I totally agree with that! Cream always rises to the top.

Awesome shots. Resteemed!

Funny! I've posted tons of photos at this location myself. I"m from the area but am now in Colorado. I love this place very much. Born and raised SF'er. If you are interested, there is a #shoutoutsaturdays that a group of us are doing to try to correct the false "trending" issue.

I think I need to make travel one my serious goals this year..!
