Giant Turtles of Apo Island

Braving the high waves early in the morning, clothes drenched and a cap blown away by strong winds. What we went through could pass up as escaping a storm in the middle of the ocean. Thankful enough that our boatmen were very skilled to get us through that almost an hout boat ride.

And then we reached our destination - APO Island, where Giant Turtles can be seen up close.

After a few instructions, we put on our swimming gears - life jacket, snorkeling gear and aqua shoes. We were given one guide to help us spot a turtle underneath.

When we reached the look out point, our diver dived and checked if a turtle can be seen around. And we were not disappointed, shortly after, he told us that we can now dive in and have a picture with the giant turtle. It was a bit hard to see it since it's back is almost the same color as the corals and algaes under the sea.

All in all, the experience was good. I've never seen such huge turtles in my entire life. I even got to touch its back due to my close proximity to it. This experience is definitely one for the books. It's worth braving the high waves again.
