Bhaktapur - Architectural Overview

in #photocircle6 years ago

Kathmandu valley hosts three Durbar Squares(Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur) and all of them are UNESCO World Heritage site. If you want to escape the crowded center and enjoy pure culture, then Bhaktapur Durbar Square is the best option for you.

In this post we explore some architectural structures around Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Don't confuse it with the Patan Durbar Square post i did recently on Krishna Janmastami.

Nyatapola(5 storied temple) is the finest display of Pagoda style architecture in Nepal. The temple towers 30m above the square and is the largest temple of Nepal.

This is not a typical Nyatapola shot you will see in pictures. But if you time your position and camera right, you can get this symmetrical architectural shot.

This is what the same temple looks like from far away and what you get to see in the pictures.

Next, we explore the broad pagoda style of the Bhairavnath Temple which lies just next to the Nyatapola temple.

As you move around the square, you also get to see the Shikara styled temples like this one.

I regret not having taken lots of photos because there are so many architectures to explore and not only these around the square. But maybe, it is fine for a overview post and i hope you enjoyed it.

Sort:

I really like the angle of that first picture compared to the straight on one below it. It's a lovely building either way, but I think the form is more appealing from the corner angle.

That's why i used it as a cover photo for the post. To create a buzz out of it for the post.LOL.

Temples are full of art. Amazing post 👌

Thanks my himalayan friend. Namaste.

Amazing architecture! I can't tell you how many times I've traveled to incredible places and got home and thought why didn't I take more pictures?

Thank you. I always plan to take a different shot and miss all the eautiful things.

We just need more time at beautiful places than normal tourists do! Like maybe a month more?

Totally. That way we can start seeing beauty in things we normally ignore. Those are the photographs that turn out soo good.

On a different note, do you happen to know the developers of esteem. Spelling highlighter and corrector would be a great addition to it. I always make mistakes while fast typing and maybe all of us do.

Those are two of the things they are working on, among many others! I'm not sure when they will be released, but I understand they are working towards having some big announcements for us at Steemfest.

I have seen some of the temples. Can the ones like in your last photo be 10,000 years old?

Great shots @cave-man.

The one in my post is about 400-500 years old but i feel they can be that much old as well. So where did you see such temples?
