The photo contest hosted by @photochallenge has a lovely theme on Wednesdays: Plants and Animals.

My entry is a close up photo of a fully bloomed redbud tree branch. Cercis siliquastrum is a new addition to the local gardens so we can enjoy their beautiful flowers and interesting fruits, pea shaped.
Another name it is known by is Judas tree. Apparently this is the tree from which Judas hanged himself after his betrayal.
Despite this sad storyline, the flowers are amazing and they definitely give color to our Springs.
