Welcome to WePhoto Group!

Hello, my name is Mario Buncuga, founder of the WePhoto Facebook group.
I created this group for the photography enthusiasts in February 2014. I started all by myself with a very few members added from my friend circles. I kept looking for interested authors in the various photo groups on FB, who were invited by me to post their images on my group. I will remain thankful to those first "heroes" who trusted WePhoto, still lacking in content though. I celebrated the hundredth member. I can still recall that emotion.

Now, as the year 2018 approaches, I can count on over 18,000 members, 12 thematic groups and related pages, 12 bulletin boards on Pinterest and over 70 eBooks on the Issuu platform, all downloadable for free or viewable online.

The group is now managed by about twenty committed Admins, closely coordinated by my closest collaborator, the great Germana De Chellis.

The main group, at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/WePhotos/ is dedicated to those who appreciate beautiful imagery, of all kinds, on every theme; and to the authors who wish to share their works with a wider viewership. The images adjudged most interesting by my team, are selected and published in special bulletin boards on Pinterest. In addition, the authors of best images are invited to join our relevant thematic groups. For example, we make sure a beautiful landscape photo also figures on our WePhoto Landscapes group.

Right from the beginning I had realized that Facebook was not, and could never be THE IDEAL PLATFORM for our needs. With every new post the images, in a short time, flowed downwards until they disappeared. Also beyond a certain numerical limit, they would eventually disappear from the database forever. All those beautiful photographs, all that precious heritage, is destined to be lost for all times!

I looked for a solution, and I found two. The first being - Flipboard: a sort of online magazine that we used to publish the select photos (this is now replaced by Pinterest, on which we currently have 12 thematic message boards). The second one happened to be eBooks using Issuu.com platform. We have currently published 77 ebooks and calendars, and it’s counting. Why eBooks? As mentioned previously, on the various social platforms the images would eventually vanish. Forever! While eBooks will stay in our archive as a valuable compendium of the best of imagery. As a standard, eBooks are formed by a collective of 7 authors (max 10 in some cases), for a hundred pages each.

Hence the transition to printed books was short. Currently, at the disposal of the Authors who wish, through the peecho.com platform, you may have fabulous digital prints on request, in desired quantity, even if it is a single copy.

My goal and my hope would be to give life to a real publishing house, so as to print in thousands, with traditional offset methods, thousands of books and spread them through a distribution network. Time will tell if this option can ever become a reality.
