No act of kindness is ever wasted (also featuring a few Steemians as role models)

It is true that there are alot of crimes and cruel activities going around in the world daily. While some people have given up hope on humanity, I, for one, believe that good people in the world still outnumber the bad. I also believe people that had committed crime before can turn over a new leaf given the chance and appropriate counselling and efficient follow-up. Well, it is because I am a true believer of what comes around goes around. If more people practise love and kindness, eventually it will outpower the notion of inhumanity.

Back when I was active in my pastoral line, I made it a point to show random act of kindness everyday. Whether a small act like giving generous smile to the waiter or waitress, or nice tips for the market vendors, or big act like giving thousands to the charity; every act be it small or big counts.

Although rendering act of kindness to people is a noble act, you may not get any reward back. Hence, this is one of the many reasons why people might have given up hope to show kindness. I was even told once that I was too kind a person and I needed to be aware not to be taken granted by people. Some deem you as not wise or fool for giving out kindness to people that may not even remember your face, not to mention giving back kindness to you. However, that is not the purpose of random act of kindness.

To me, act of kindness (even if it is not reciprocrated) is a powerful and courageous act. Yes, it got to be intentional, or else human by nature is lazy too, but it is not impossible. In fact, many times, when I feel abit laid back as if life is meaningless, one simple act of kindness that I show that day will immediately boost me up back to vigour. This only proves that kindness and love is emdedded in every soul, every gene, every DNA. It warms your heart and your entire system will feel liberated. Every act of kindness you render will land you at a place of feeling wholesome again. Even if it is going to cause you walking second mile, it is still worthwhile.

In some counselling sessions for the depressed, one of the utmost advice is to ask them to go out and about, to do something for others; maybe a visit to the orphanage or a visit to the poor slum area. Most often than not, the one that is depressed will get back his or her purpose of life and feel meaningful once again. I believe kindness can reduce suicidal thoughts too. Therefore, no one act of kindness is ever wasted. It either benefits the receiver, or it either benefits both receiver and giver.

Now that I am a fulltime mother at home most of the time, I vow to practise kindness to my spouse and children. We all know familiarity does breeds complacency too. We've got too familiar with our family we forget to show them kindness. Therefore, I literally remind myself to smile to my spouse often, to greet him "Good morning" and "Good night", and to say "thank you" to little things that he did for me. On the side note, as a mother, I have more chances to show kindness to other mothers and people at street markets as I frequent there.

No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted ~Aesop.

Examples of random act of kindness (that my family and I had done before)

  1. Visit sick strangers at hospital
  2. Buy food and drinks for our residents' security guard
  3. Cook homecooked meals people (plus free food delivery)
  4. Help people shift house for free
  5. Help people paint house
  6. Help do groceries for the elderly
  7. Give tuition for free for young ones
  8. Help take care friends' children for awhile while they get some breather
  9. Pay for toll for the car behind (back then tolls were paid by cash, not just Touch-n-Go)
  10. Pay petrol for the next car (pay it forward)
  11. Feed the cats at my residents
  12. Bring food trucks to refugee camps to give them free food
  13. Visit orphanages and old folks' home
  14. Give free ride
  15. Give free umbrellas to strangers during heavy rain
  16. Bring people to hospital (emergency)
  17. Buy food for the homeless (I wish I can give them a home, haha).
  18. Pay forward for randomly chosen table at a restaurant we dine at
  19. Write thoughtful notes for people
  20. Offer prayers to those who need as well as warm hugs if permissible
  21. What else? Feel free to help me add on for more ideas. 😉

Top example of Steemians practising act of kindness

One thing that surprised me recently was kindness that my family received from a few Steemians. I started Steemit on Dec 12th, last year. Immediately, I joined #teammalaysia and gradually got to know more of them.

When my son was admitted to hospital from 1st to 4th of March recently due to his CDH condition, we received surprise act of kindness from a few Steemians. I did not expect to receive kindness from people I just got to know for less than 3 months. Not that they lived nearby the hospital, in fact they needed to drive a distant just to visit us. Before visiting, they even went to scout for toys for my son. This was beyond their convenience, yet they did it - loving kindness to the max. Here I wanted to give a shout to them. They are @zord189, @aaronleang and @joannewong. I was busy after hospital discharge and did not manage to blog this, hence the delay of this beautiful post about them. They are indeed a walking role models who display random act of kindness.

So much love and hearts from them. @zord189 was entertaining my son.

It was indeed an awesome day filled with gratefulness and appreciation from us to them. On top of this act of kindness, after they left, my son finally poo-ed after few days of bowel obstruction, and we were discharged the very next day. Until today, my son will ask for my phone in order to view photos of these few kind souls. It has greatly impacted him. And everytime I view the photos, they #makemesmile.

Besides them, they are many in the community of #teammalaysia who relentlessly show kindness and help without asking back a return. Steemit indeed is yet another platform to popularise random act of kindness. I believe many can relate with me in this. Thank you to all beautiful kind Steemians here, you know who you are.

Let us seek to offer random act of kindness to people, animal and environment. And even here in this platform ❤.

Who am I? I am a mother of 2 sons (2nd one is battling CDH). I used to serve actively as a pastor and worship leader at my local church, but now I fully focus on taking care of my 2nd son and of course home and family. I love life and want to live my life with love. Why am I here? All the while I love blogging. So here, I can blog and share, at the same time earn some income to support medical needs for my CDH son. What do I blog about? I blog about life, family and practically anything under the sun that inspires me daily. I start to realise I love photography and freewriting. Most importantly, I want to have fun here blogging and connecting with people without stress. And do it with love and passion ❤😘

Such a heartwarming read <3 thanks for sharing!

You are welcome @xramonahx. Thank you for dropping by ;)

I miss Jansen! I hope he is doing much much better now. It's cute that they even teach me the name of the power rangers. We'll meet up soon :)

Oh yes we will meet up soon ;)

Awww thanks @iamjadeline for the kind words 😆, we're happy that Jansen was getting well as soon as after our visit 😊, look forward meeting him again on our next meetup 👍🏻

Yes, I replied Joanne also that I hope to see one day he can join crowded place while also eat like a champion. ;)

Good things will always come back to you in two folds dear. You are an inspiring mom!

Thank you @angiechin28 for uplifting words.

A random act of kindness when it is least expected, definitely goes a long way to bless others. Kudos to @zord189, @aaronleang and @joannewong for it!

Yes kudos to the 3 of them. Thank you @karinzdailygrind.

this actually reminds me of Barnabas movement when my church took part once, randomly bless someone and some even did it secretly.

Totally kudos to our lovable @zord189 , @aaronleang and @joannewong for their spontaneous kindness for little Jansen! It was definitely a sight for sore eyes when young people are able to give without asking for anything for return.

Now that's Agape !

upvoted and resteemed

Such awesome movement your church had taken part, I believe many many many souls were blessed.

Yep kudos to the 3 lovelies (applicable to men?). They really give without asking anything for return. So are you and many more others in the team. It sets a good example for many too.

Agape is the word! Thank you for upvote and resteem. ;)

Believe or not, I was actually anticipating this post, because I know the 3 Musketeers @aaronleang, @joannewong and @zord189 visited Jansen. These 3 musketeers are like the heroes/heroine in teammalaysia, supporting everyone who need support. It's almost like, when there's trouble, you surely see them appear. When there's meetup, you surely see them. When there's workshop, you surely see them. When there's makan or FBG, you surely see them too. Actually really very touched by what 3 of you are doing. 💓 Your kind hearts be rewarded.

Somehow, I also have the anticipation to read their posts after weekends, because there's surely something up! Haha. Thank you 3 Musketeers!

Kindness is a huge quality you have @iamjadeline, whether you are taken in advantage or not. It's one of the special things I am learning from you and also always experiencing from you 💝👏. Preach your philosophy! :) I love this platform which spreads kindness really fast too!

I was also anticipating this post. But post like this required more of me than usual freewrite so I always tend to delay due to home's situation.

I almost think 3 of them deserve the doraemon pocket then they can go wherever they want be it meetup or workshop or makan or etc, they can use 'pintu serba guna' (if you watch doraemon you will know).

Let us learn to spread kindness even we are fighting time as mamas.

Wow. This is great. Thanks for inspiring me. I would keep showing random acts of kindness!
I pray your son gets well soon. You deserve better and the world!
Much love.

Yes he is getting better day by day. Thank you @kweenbrand for dropping by ;)

Thank you Chloe for continuous love and support. ;)

You’re most welcome Pastor :)
