They all bring back nice memories, Chess appeal most to me.

Aha awesome @bluemist! Yea chess is a game that probably pushes your brain more than most others out there!

Are you going to get a post going with your favourites as well? 😉

Posted using Partiko Android

Will definitely do mine :)

Yay, looking forward to seeing yours!

Ahh, memories! All great choices here Nicky! Scrabble will most likely make my top 3, as well. It is one I don't ever get tired of playing, though I'll have to dig through the brain archives to see if there are any others that just might trump it. You know I still don't know how to play chess? I remember someone trying to "teach" me by just playing, but I got too frustrated because it's kind of hard to make any moves when you know nothing about the game, haha. Maybe some day I'll give it a go again. Thanks for kicking off the month with a great example for the topic!

Hey @plantstoplanks! Thanks for reading it! Yes Scrabble is an undeniable classic of the classics and each game is totally different from the next!

Chess takes time and patience to master and I used to read books about it and what moves are the best to do in a certain situation but that was 20 years ago now when I was just fascinated by the game. I can remember where all the pieces go now but it's been so long since I even played a game that the strategy may be totally rusty!

Look forward to reading your post!

Excellent choices, @nickyhavey! I had no idea the Wheel of Fortune game was actually a thing!

I have my thinking cap on for my entry - hoping to get it early next week (without skating in under the wire... 😂

My grandson is a huge Monopoly fan. He collects Monopoly variations. Did you know there's one called Boardwalk? It's an interesting little variation, and hardly anything like the original.

For me, one of my all-time faves is Sorry. I love sending people back to Home and seeing if I can beat them to the end. Of course, Chess is also a fave. I do remember Mousetrap. We had fund with that one when I was a kid. lol It was a sight to see when you triggered the trap. But I think my favorite board game of all is Scrabble. I'm a writer and love words. That should come as no surprise.

I wonder how many Monopoly variations there are? Do you know?

I haven't heard of Boardwalk, that sounds like an interesting one. It's pretty cool when variations of an original come out as long as they are easy to play!

Is Sorry the one that's a bit like Ludo? Trying to remember if I read that somewhere.

Haha well I think you should definitely enter this month's contest with some of these suggestions man! There's still time to enter (last month we paid out $28 worth of prizes) - contest info post is here

There are hundreds of different variations. My grandson has over half a dozen, probably getting close to a dozen.

I haven't heard of Ludo. Each player has four tokens you move around the board and you try to get to the end before everyone else. You can send them back to start. And there are sliders on the board that allow you to move about five space in one move, knocking off anyone in your path as you do. It was a fund game growing up.

$28? Wow. I may have to get in on that. lol

@blueeyes8960, is that a real thing, or was someone just playing around?

I'd definitely be playing that one haha!

Upwords???? Where have you been all my life??? Now if I would have someone to play with, I would buy this game!

Scrabble has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid and so has chess. I never understood mouse trap as its too easy to be successful every time. I perhaps misunderstood the concept of the game lol.

Go you for being in tournaments! I never had the courage to follow through with that.

Haha it's a good variation of scrabble for sure!

Are you basically saying you were always the one getting caught in the trap? 😛

Well I didn't get very far in the nationals but I didn't play too much after that. Was a bit of a harrowing experience for a 12 year old Nicky 😁

I think it's wonderful that you went at 12!! When I was that age I was just rolled blading and playing with devil sticks lol.

My friend had mouse trap and after playing with her a few times I just gave it up. Wasn't my thing. When that came out, so did other games that were scientific and intriguing. My mom never brought them for me though but I did pretend I had something similar lol.

Posted using Partiko Android

Haha, I never roller bladed so you'd probably destroy me in a race! My balance isn't the greatest.

Hmm. What scientific games are we talking about? Appealing to my nerdy side now 😁

Posted using Partiko Android

Well just don't ever bring me to a downhill. I don't break well enough lol.

I can't remember what they were, I just remember seeing the commercials. I tried looking and I'm seeing the science explosion game that could have been one. Made from the magic school bus. But not 100% sure. Was a long time ago.

Posted using Partiko Android

I'd brake pretty well I think going downhill... By falling flat on my face lol

Explosions, magic school bus? Have you been at the special sauce again? 😁

Wassaaaaaaaaaaa 😝

Posted using Partiko Android

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaa 🤪

That's how I would break and prefer not to have that happen so I avoid hills altogether.

Yes explosion, no on the sauce haha.

Posted using Partiko Android

Hahaha but hills are awesome! Just walk backwards down them instead 😁
Oh, no sauce...? 😢

Posted using Partiko Android

Hmmm...yes. Some there I don't recognise at all: Upwords - no, nor wheel of fortune and most definitely not mousetrap. Funny you should mention draughts, dominos and chess - they're all in my currently still mental (ha! - no comments from the peanut gallery) list.....

Yea a few obscure ones but then I'm an obscure kinda guy 😉👉

Dominos technically isn't a board game though is it? You just had tiles and laid them down on the table but it is great fun and over pretty quickly each round.

No comment on your mental condition 😛

Posted using Partiko Android

No, it isn't. And two other on-board games feature in my post which has become a work-in-progress...

No comment on your mental condition 😛
Best you don't 🤣

Great choices @nickyhavey

Your honorable mentions are cool, Snakes and Ladders is a must for every household. Mousetrap is a cool game if your willing to build it every time! lol. Scrabble and Chess are great choices. They should be very popular.

Nice job.

Thanks Gaz! Well, I won't be in the dpoll remember but will be topping up the prize pool so our wonderful entrants can win some more prizes 🙂

Haha yea it was a pain sometimes to build the mouse trap every time but when it worked it was cool to see it unfold 😁

Looking forward to seeing what other classic games we have in our other entries 🙂

Posted using Partiko Android

@nickyhavey - good ones! I've never seen the UPWORDS, but it looks like a lot of fun, since I do love Scrabble. I've played Wheel of Fortune from TV audience land but never had the board game. Anyway, here I am, contributing to the prize pool and I enjoyed reading your post!

Yes UPWORDS has a very scrabble-esque feel to it but also gets you thinking a little bit outside the box!

Wheel of Fortune was more fun watching the show than playing the board game I'd say but it was worth giving it a shot!

Thanks for stopping by, I wonder how the contest will go this time round! Seems to be growing month on month in every way 🙂

Are you entering?

Posted using Partiko Android

Mousetrap!! I love it @nickhavey. All awesome choices. I have thoroughly enjoyed them all. My chess skills are lacking a bit nowadays, I still enjoy it.

Haha thanks man! Yea my chess skills certainly aren't what they were 20 years ago lol! But I'm not at the "what does this piece do?" stage any more 😂
