Hartenstein Lake - Colorado Rockies

Hartenstein Lake is about 100 straight west of Colorado Springs in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. It is a short hike off the trail up to Brown's Pass. I last hiked this with my oldest son 5 years ago. The road to Brown's Pass is now a hiking trail. In my younger days, the road was open to 4WD and I crossed Brown's Pass a few times in a jeep.

Lake Hartenstein is at approximately 11,500 ft which is near the timber line in this part of Colorado.

There are active beaver works both above and below the lake.
