Who would you be if there was nothing to stop you? by merej99 - a #payitforward post
@beanz challenged us to answer this question:
Who would you be if there was nothing to stop you?

If money was no object...
If time and health was on your side...
If you were only beholden to yourself without family obligation...
If responsibilities weren't holding you back...
If time and space weren't obstacles...
She asks, "What would you get? What would you do? Who would you be?
So here I sit contemplating life, the universe, and the lint from my husband's bellybutton...

He was wearing a green shirt. Can you tell?
I dare to dream
If I had no obstacles...
If I could point to something and say, "I want that"...
If I could wish something true for my future...
My dream home
- I dream of acquiring a tract of land to build our home.
My husband has an Associate's degree with a concentration in engineering and architecture. He loves to draw floor plans for our perfect home. We want to build our own and currently looking into Earthbag (adobe) homes. - To be as self-sufficient as possible without losing all of the creature comforts.
- I want an aquaponics system to grow my own food and harvest fresh fish.
- I want chickens and pigs.
My dream job
Hubby and I share the same passion for helping people. We both grew up in the food service business; both our parents had a bar/restaurant. We grew up watching our parents donate their time and resources to worthy causes.
Pat and I dream of having a mobile commercial kitchen that would travel to disaster areas to feed and nurture the survivors and first responders.
There's nothing cushy about it. Fundraising, awareness, response, and hard work in devastated areas.
I don't need to travel the world on a permanent vacation. I personally don't require millions in the bank. I want to live simply and give freely.
But I'm no saint. I definitely want stuff
Rather, there is one little indulgence...
It's something that I've always wanted...
A Volkswagen Beetle manufactured between 1968 and 1971. It's my dream car!

Isn't it adorable?
And if I could wish something true
I wish my children to be fine young men. To find true love and happiness. To appreciate their life and remain healthy. To be of a giving spirit. To live a live of fulfillment.
That is my sincerest wish because they are my legacy.
How would you answer @beanz' question?

2merej99 what would I do if nothing would stop me?
I'd have acres of pineapple, citrus and all kinds of fruit plantation
to finance a school in a remote area in Laos where kids don't get to school and is only visited by a boat library once a week
and that school won't just teach them to read, write, do Math and Sciences
but also to be self sufficient ...
because this is heartbreaking to watch fffffffffffffffff
Oh my goodness that is so heartbreaking to see - and very inspiring that someone is actualy taking the time to bring books to these children. May your wishes and dreams come true. XOXOX
@merej99 yes, please blue fairy :)
If there was nothing stopping me, KING OF THE WORLD!
I already have my plans.. ;o)
Well that explains the maniacal laugh I heard echoing through the universe.
I totally get the feeling you know me too well!!
Have spacesuit, will travel ;)
But I'd need internet connection in my spaceship.
So, do you read Heinlein, Kevin?😄😇😄

Yup i do :) not all his books though
"Have Spacesuit; Will Travel" is a really fun story.
If you've never read it, you might want to give "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" a try. That is my favorite Sci-Fi novel of all time; probably my favorite novel, period.
Yes, a book recommendation, or two actually! Will definitely check those out :)
Internet is a definite MUST HAVE anywhere we go! :D
What a great post ! My oldest son also wants an aquaponics system ! And live sustainably in the middle of no where ! Haha ! And you know all want is to build my little one bedroom house on my property ! We will have a small trailer also for company ! Like we do now ! It's great , visitors have their own space and like their on holiday camping out , they also don't need to drink and drive back to town ! Haha ! It's great ! Steem on ! And Happy Holidays ! Hope all your dreams come true ! 😉🎄🎁🎅
Aquaponics is so cool. It takes a while to get it set up but everything I read makes it my first choice because it creates its own ecosystem. My husband has been researching Earthbag houses and it is so cost effective and "easy enough" to add on rooms.
I hear you about the little house on your property. You were talking about a power shack to it, right? What is that, exactly? Is it the cost to get the electric company out to run wires or are you doing something different?
And I hope your dreams come true too. XOXOX
My son has read up alot on the internet about aquaponics and that's what he would do if he had a place ! And yes , before Fortis the power company can hook up power we need the pole / power shack . The power shack is a best choice and what everyone does because you make it the size of say a garden shed or a bit smaller , then you can also store stuff in it ! Like garden tools . Once we have that , then we can even put a small camper trailer on it till we can build or even rent it out once there's power to help make the payments off on the property ! We still could get the power hooked up with a pole for about 1,500.00 because we "know ,"people . it's usually around 2,500.00 dollars ! Thanks for replying back . Steem on ! ,And Happy Holidays !🎅🕯👼🎄
Great post, I like the pay it forward initiative! I have always dreamed about being a rock star, with all the stereotypical fame and fortune :p
ROFL - doesn't everyone want to be a rock star? I always wanted to be a rock star but I have a Julie Andrews voice. LOL
Haha yeah, I guess so. Well I have all the right tools for it, I just would need to start preforming for people in some way! Steemit is actually helping me do that a lot ^_^
Oh to be twenty again, haha!! You definitely have what it takes, go for it!
Haha actually 27, Yes I am definitely going to go for it!
Wh would I be? I would still be me. Except I would get more done. And there would be more fishing, I think.
I'm with you ! Fishing , gardening, lounging ! All sounds good to me ! 👍😆🎣🍷🌱🐟🐳
Those are 3 great choices, for sure! Here's to 2017!
In the meantime I will keep dreaming ...💭💭💭
I must be the crazy one trying to make more work for myself. LOL
I'd still be me too, but chasing down donations and corporate food sponsors.
But fishing is good...or in my case, tossing in the line and donating worms because they never bite.
That is a neat goal, to support disaster teams and folks in the affected areas. Definitely admirable. Here's to your dreams -- every one of them!
Haha! Great reply ! I can't wait to retire ! Dreaming on ... 💭💭💭
<3
I also have my dream home planned out in my head to the finest detail. I used to have a 3D house designer on my laptop and I swear I built hundreds of them and every one of them was called "My Dream Home" because as soon as I finished one I'd think of another and it would become my new favourite lol.
Hopefully irl I won't be constantly changing my mind if I ever do get to build it :p
Haha ! That sounds awesome ! I hope one day your dreams come true ! My dream home of 30 years ago when my kids were small , which I never did get , has now changed into my little dream retirement house in the country ! Lol ! Where it's nice and peaceful , I can fish when I want or just steemit up all day and night ! Hahaha ! For now I will keep on dreaming ...💭🍷🏠🏞🎏🎣💭
I have never wanted a large house, even with 3 boys running around - it's more to clean! YUK! LOL
I don't know that I would like a tiny house that's all the rage, but 2 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, and a big kitchen would make me very happy.
Haha yes ! I have to agree ! I mostly want my place to have a very large kitchen open to the living room as I would be doing lots of canning and baking etc. Then just a small bedroom and of course one of those jacuzzi type bath tubs for 2 lol would sure be nice for relaxing after all that gardening ! Haha ! Steem on ! 👍😆😊
Thankfully steeming it up is something we can do now 😁😅
Haha! You are so right ! As long as I have internet it's something I can do anytime, anywhere ! Lol!😆👍😂
My husband is so old fashioned. He would rather draw than use autoCAD. One day I may have to surprise him with a program so he can play with the 3D. I have rolls upon rolls of his drawings. Now he's on an Earthbag mission, which is really neat! I never knew it was an option!
I actually kinda wish I had the head to draw!! Or the money and time to study architecture on top of all the other millions of things I wish I could do haha
It's funny you mention wanting a VW Bug that is specifically between those years. I had a Bug when I was about 18 years old, but it was a 73 Superbeetle (more dash space). I miss that car. Only car I could even remotely work on myself.
I LOVE IT!
I want one so bad! And... is your hood holding up the bumper? LOL
My husband had one in high school. His was powder blue.
I was driving a 78 Cutlass Supreme in high school & college. That thing was a beast. Good memories of seeing how many college coeds could fit in the damned thing. (I think it was like 15 kids) HA!
Good guess! Actually the bumper was holding down the hood. The previous owner hit someone at a stop light and the latch on the hood was broken. That was the first thing I fixed - and this picture was taken right when I got it, blemishes and all.
I didn't get a chance to really restore it, but it was a fun car!
I love the Hitachi impact driver! I am a fan of power tools!
We have some things in common -- like our dream of building a home on an acreage. And like your husband, I have drafted dozens of floor plans and elevations of homes I would like to build. I went to college for construction technology and architecture many years ago, but I partied way too hard and quit going to school.
And the mobile kitchen idea? Brilliant! I love retired school buses because they have so many potential uses. In fact, my sister and I worked on a book project called 101 Uses For A School Bus. We intended to publish it, but life events got in the way and we never went any further with it.
You are a generous, kind person. I hope you achieve your goals and desires!
I love the idea of converting an old school bus! One requirement that we need is to have a sleeping berth so we can stay self-sufficient and not become a burden to the devastated places. We've got the dream and the will and drive....just never had the money or resources.
You should definitely get that book published!
You will enjoy my post about my school bus conversion project, whenever I get around to it.
Nonprofit president of the largest organization in the care of the environment and the preservation of nature.
Principal activist of the association of the care of the children and pregnant mothers in street situation. Excellent post my great friend @merej99 Congratulations on this great question.
That is definitely something to aspire to @jlufer - Such a worthy cause! May that dream come true one day.
thank you very much
