Ozark - Season 1
Just finishing up season 1, at first i wasn't really interested because i'm not into the whole drug show drama, but the angle of washing the money and the setting of the Ozarks is pretty engaging. The season takes a lot of twists and they are not afraid of killing off characters (there is a fair amount of death going on, people are getting knocked off left and right for various reasons). There is a dark cloud hanging over the family they can't shake or get out from under of. There are a lot of twists and situations where protagonists have to think on their feet, often in surprising ways. I find Bateman pretty engaging in general and the writing is pretty top notch, sometimes the logic is a bit bent, but hey, people are like that.
The "Kaleidoscope" episode was one of the best and the series is not afraid of messing with chronology, which is always an engaging trope that keeps one off balance. Not a lot of humor, mostly psychological thriller with a bit too much nudity for my taste (one of his laundering businesses turns out to be a strip club) but overall most things are done in pretty good taste, considering a murdering narcotics kingpin is behind the motivating factors of the whole story. A lot of strong characters and acting, definitely looking forward to season 2.
