in #openmic7 years ago

This is me spitting my most recent creation, something that I've been sitting on and only recently got around to recording.

What this song means to me

This song is very special to me because it's quite personal. It's a somewhat cryptic telling of my journey through life thus far, the struggles I've had to overcome as an artist, and how I'm determined to create music that resonates.

I've never truly felt accomplished as a hip hop artist and still feel like I have a lot to learn, this song however feels like a milestone in my development.

I'm really excited to share the official release for this track with you all but unfortunately you'll have to wait until the rest of my EP is ready to be released. There's no release date for it because I've decided to be patient and take my time with it. I'm also studying music production so I can produce the whole thing myself.

Lyrics

Intro

I've been searching everywhere that I go,
for a place that my soul can finally call home,
until that feelings atoned,
what's next is unknown,
this path is my own,
and all I've got is my flow.

Verse 1:

It's Sensei Teekay, I'm back again,
this time a little crazed,
because I'm going insane,
finding my place in a world that's turning deranged,
stuck with pocket change because I refuse to race,
still my Rockets are aimed to blow the stage,
now that I've had a taste it's infused like it's laced,
ready to break out of the cage, feeling enraged,
infuriated at old ways cause I needed a change,
now I'm soaking in rays,
UV on the brain,
swelling these waves,
reminding me to behave,
and remain the same,
now the name is unchanged,
no need to say it again,
there isn't time to waste,
as I perfect on my game,
become in touch with the soul,
behold what's next to unfold,
submerged inside of my brain,
these stories I mold,
'til I'm trapped in a grave,
what I'll be spitting is gold

Verse 2:

Feeling like I was hexed,
not knowing what's next.
just flowing til I'm wrecked,
like I've got nothing left.
feeling contempt cause habits are hard to forget,
years of neglect,
misguided intellect,
forgotten respect,
stuck at the bottom like I was out of my depth,
hard to keep it fresh,
with the extra pressure on the chest,
dove into darkness like I was searching for Lochness,
taking sequential steps to place in my contest,
instead I found a purpose,
helping me to resurface,
coming back with a vengeance,
to write my own amendments,
so despite what I've mentioned,
my raps are my sole business.
no need to set impressions,
cause you're all now a witness,
to sound found in lyrical vineyards,
'92 and brewed in the finest conditions,
the fly'est lyricist spitting tremendous renditions,
with bars like bricks and bullions,
worthy of millions.

Verse 3:

What I'm saying is this,
I've found what I missed,
now fully equipped,
to gift this world with my script,
attacking governance from positions of permanence,
earnest competitiveness,
after falling from firmament,
fermented through certainess,
bringing heavenly services,
praised for effectiveness,
in enduring the turbulence,
on shape shifting surfaces,
an enlightened intelligence,
enjoying inner furtherance,
igniting the furnaces,
with prominent providence
through connaisance,
rhyming syllable consonants with consonance,
confident dominance in my deliverance
displaying competence as I turn microphones to ornaments,
structural ordnance via all my sentences,
containing sentiments for guidance like compasses,
you'll find it encompasses,
relevant elements,
for me and my associates,
as we travel these continents.

A quick message for my followers:

If you follow my blog and have been wondering why I'm not posting as often, it's because I'm extremely busy with study and work. I'm still here daily though; reading content, voting, commenting on your posts.

I was born in New Zealand and now reside in Australia. I write about many different subjects, mostly about those that affect me personally. I like to philosophize about each subject and do the same with my music. I'm addicted to knowledge though I'm no scholar. I try to be original & true in everything I do because I don't like pretending. I'm the realest person out.

Probably one of my favorites of your entries so far and I would consider this song of yours a big milestone of accomplishment, especially the way you expressed yourself. The later two verses were really expressive without any cliche rhyme schemes, I can tell you were pushing yourself to build upon the intricacies of your thought process and the layering of your thoughts in such a creative structure which helped your flow over all. This open mic night contest week 8 is packed with razor sharp competitors, thanks for boosting the level of playing field in our hip hop section. Easy Upvote

Yo man, thanks for the love, I appreciate it. I wish I would've expressed myself the same way at the beginning of the video. It's hard for me to put myself out there like this but Steemit gives me more of a reason to do so. It's good having other MCs here like yourself that appreciate word play for what it is, I find it usually goes over the heads of most. Yeah, this week was awesome, thank you for doing the same ;) Peace brother.

Cool set up you got there. Good to see you at Open Mic again.

Thanks @luzcypher. It took me a while to acquire my "things". The only object that's important in there is that microphone.

What kind of mic you got there?

Audio-Technica AT2035 Condenser. I've had it since I started 4 years ago. It has a lot of nostalgic/sentimental value

I think I'll be making a replica of your "steemit open mic" sign!

I like your flow man!

Keep doing what you do!

That was GOLD

Go for it! It was easy to make. Couple tins of spray paint and an acrylic sheet I had lying around.

Thank you man, compliments like that are what make me want to get better and better :)

Your compliment on my entry really blessed me, plus, you're still not getting lame on us, so that's good!

Keep it up man, and so will I!
