Open Mic Week 4 - Record Your Musical Performance On Your Phone, Enter And Win Steem - Sponsored by @luzcypher

in #openmic4 years ago (edited)

Join Open Mic Night Week 4 and win Steem. Just Record, Post, Win! Come play or sing a song for Steemit.

Even if you don't play an instrument you can still show support. Upvote your favorite performer and Reblog this post. If you have a friend that plays or sings, this could be a good way to introduce them to Steemit.

Thanks again to @pfunk for sponsoring (with 100 Steem and tons of support) the last two Open Mic contests. He even gave another 100 Steem on top of that to all who entered last week. Thanks @pfunk for helping us get a good start and get the word out about Open Mic.

This week, I will follow his example and I'll support Open Mic 4 with 100 Steem from me personally. It's worth it just to see the wonderful performances you have all contributed and to help unite the music community on Steemit.

Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.

Open Mic Week 4

Thanks for supporting, upvoting, Resteeming and entering Open Mic, a community of music lovers for music lovers and musicians.

2 Votes = Win Win

You can help support Open Mic by making sure to vote two times.

  • Once on this post so the payouts for the winners will make this contest self-supporting. We're very grateful for everyone's support in helping Open Mic with upvotes. This gives more rewards to everyone who enters and helps the contest become self-supporting.

  • And vote a 2nd time on the link of your favorite entry's post found in the comments below. This will help support all the musicians that entered, even if they didn't win the contest.

  • In fact, some entries earned very well, even though they didn't win. And that's good because musicians need to eat.

Winners from week 3 will be announced tomorrow, Monday, October 24th, 2016 so be sure to follow @luzcypher for updates and thanks for everyone that entered, upvoted and resteemed Open Mic.

Open Mic Process

Keeping it short and sweet, here is the flow of considerations for the openmic contest:-

  • Need to promote community participation in spirit of openmic night.

  • So.. openmic submissions in comments, community voting and reblogging is encouraged.

  • However, we need to avoid public vote abuse and keep a certain standard for openmic night.

  • So.. community voting as first filter, before internal voting.
  • Another problem: late submissions are usually disadvantaged as they get less attention on the contest post.
  • So.. we've tried to mitigate such a problem by including unique votes of openmic submissions in their own blogposts.
  • Right at time of contest closing, the votes from all performances submissions will be counted and winners posted the following day.

New Music Category Communities

Music Category communities are coming together on Steemit and if you're a music lover, please show support and join in the fun. Here's a few new places to find great music.

Suggestion: openmic must be the first tag to enter open mic, but adding other music related tags (such as music, music-trail, steemradio) may help your post get more attention and perhaps even get curated by those music curators.

Thank you all for the participation!

Thank you for the positive support from the Steemit community and a special thanks to @kevinwong for his guidance, encouragement and support and @verbal-d for writing a song that inspired the idea and @pfunk for helping and supporting Open Mic.

Please contact @luzcypher in SteemitChat for any further questions you may have. https://steemit.chat/channel/openmic

We would like to thank you all for your spirited participation in making this a big part of the Steemit music community!

Sounds good and it warmed me up too. I played some guitar with Willie Nelson once. I showed up at my father's house for dinner one Sunday night and there he was. We drank some wine, had dinner, smoked a joint and played some music. It was awesome and he's a real down-to-earth guy.

Love what @luzcypher is doing for the originalmusic community here on Steemit! The collaboration and support and networking across the globe is amazing, and we are only in the first month! Thanks also to @pfunk for sponsoring contests and to luzcypher for reaching in your own pockets to keep it going! Much love from this Steemian musician!!

So glad you're part of the music community here. I know you got another song for us, right?

Yes its week 4 and I got in the first comment and almost first UPvote!
Loving this and it seems like its just going to get better and better!
Great to see people participating and everyone is grateful for yours and @pfunk support of an enjoyable and abundant music scene!

Always a pleasure to see and hear you here. Thanks for making the music community grow with your help. Let's hear you fire up that didgeridoo the way that you do.

Upvoted. Resteemed and sharing on my social media.
I didn't get to participate last week, but I'll make another attempt this week! It's all in good fun, right? :)

Missed you last week. Thanks for resteeming and sharing and all. Let's hear you sing another one.

I don't even have a chair to sit in while I play, but I managed to squeeze in my entry for the week.

I think that should be 50% of vote from users and 50% from a special jury to be a quality ranking

I agree. I'm still trying to find a jury to commit each week to judging the contest. Would you be interested in that role?

I think it would be good to co-opt all previous winners onto the judging panel. They can still enter, obviously can't vote for themselves, but it would mean there was more to it than already having a big following and being able to mobilise it.

Thats a great idea. I'll ask more previous winners.

I am here if you have a seat. :))

Yes, meet me in the chat room. All the songs from people who entered are there. https://steemit.chat/channel/openmic

well, I want to participate again :)

I'm glad you want to participate, loved hearing you play. I'll keep looking and congratulations!

Hello thank you very much for the opportunity, not mastered much English sorry for my language native is the Spanish, here I leave my video to participate in the contest Open Mic 4. Thank you and continue to support all the artists of Steemit. https://steemit.com/openmic/@betamusic/open-mic-week-4-sonatina-in-e-major

@luzcypher - for clarification - can only sing is also accepted?
no - music instrument played or acapela - would this do?

Yes, singing acapella or even with a song on the radio is fine. Steemy-oki.

Thanks for playing your beautiful song. Next time you enter, be sure to say the words "Open Mic" at the beginning of your video so we know it's really you and not some video pulled from YouTube.

Oh I see. That's why I added the steemit mention in the description, because I already have iphone demos of a lot of my songs up on YouTube. It was a weekly project I did for about a year.

Well @pfunk, who is also sponsoring the contest with Steem, made it very clear he will not qualify anyone that does not mention the contest in the video. Too many people could scam it that way by just posting videos that are not theirs.

Ah gotcha. Okay no worries. Thanks!
