Well people it is currently just gone 8 pm here in Queensland Australia New Years Eve! So I figured I should get this post out before I start the drinkies to bring in the new year.

This week was yet again another brilliant one for Open Mic, you guys never cease to amaze or impress us here - you share your music with us and it is such an amazing gift we appreciate more than you can know.

I have to say we have been gifted some truly stunning performances this week, I am always amazed at the quality we get here - you guys are just brilliant!

Well I wont drone on too much, I just want to wish you all a very Happy New Year - I hope we get to see you all again soon in the New Year.

So without further delay here is this weeks Top 5 Judges selection for Open Mic.

This week's top 5:

1st Place - @dianakyv - NOCHE DE PAZ

Not only is this a stunning performance once again, but I was a little amazed at the song - I knew the melody and music immediately but when I read the lyrics, even translated it was completely different words.

I had no idea this song had alternate lyrics out there, that just amazed me - in English we have Silent Night and it was trippy to hear this alternate version, of course it helped it was utter perfection.

Now for the playing it is exceptional, I love hearing just a soft subtle playing guitar there to highlight the contrast between the melody and music - just perfect in every way, this song is so gentle playing can often overpower it but this was brilliant.

Then of course your vocals, they are just truly breath taking - you have the most amazing tone and delivery, it's so stunning to hear.

I also have to say the added vocal embellishments and gymnastics were phenomenal, you have such an amazing voice I just can't get enough of it - you have shared so many amazing gifts with us this year, I can't wait to hear what you have for us in the New Year!

2nd Place - @katrina-ariel - I Am Alive

Oh lovely you create such amazing music, I am quickly becoming a massive fan of not only your music but your voice as well - you have such a clear and sweet vocal it really is stunning.

Your song's are awesome on so many levels, one major point is that it doesn't sound like everything else out there - you have such a unique and brilliant sound I just can't get enough of, I love music that tells a story and most of yours do.

I love singing along with your music, I only wish I knew it better so I didn't stuff up all the time - you really have a phenomenal voice with an interesting feel, each time you blow me away with what you share with us.

The soft nature of the music doesn't make it lose any effect, if anything it draws the listener in further - you have an amazing gift and I am so grateful every time you share it, hope to keep being amazed in the new year!

3rd Place - @kayclarity - River

It's so great to have you back with us again, you never let us down - I don't think I've ever heard you miss a note, your a truly brilliant musician.

I love you playing, it's always perfection - just the perfect volume and accompaniment, to your absolutely stunning vocals.

I always have to mention those vocals in some way, your range, control and power are just brilliant - I just love hearing the controlled breaks to flip up into those stunning highs, I just can't get enough.

You are incredible and every entry you share is just such a treat, thank you so much for being with us this year - I hope to keep seeing and hearing more from you in the new year!

4th Place - @justinzidi - In my blood

Great song and brilliant performance of it, I like the little changes you made - but I really like how well you did the talking sections, I always find it hard to pull that off in a cover but you did it brilliantly.

This was another perfect example of your skills as a musician, your playing is everything it needs to be - this song has a strong focus on the juxtaposition of sound and silence, you portrayed this to perfect effect throughout.

Then of course there is your singing which is just stellar, you have a great vocal range but for me it's the little vocal embellishments you place throughout purely your own - that are just amazing, I love hearing you sing and waiting to see what little treats are hidden within.

Another absolutely beautiful performance, I hope to hear many more in the new year - thank you for sharing this brilliant performance.

5th Place -@rhyt - Mele Kalikimaka

I just really enjoyed this performance so much, you had so much enjoyment in the performance of this song - it really came through to the audience and it was just nice to see someone having fun with their music and entry.

I have never heard this song but your performance was not only energetic, but really well performed to boot - your playing was spot on, you kept the upbeat tempo throughout and it was really fun to watch.

It was just so vibrant and full of life and happiness, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your children - and hope to see more in the new year too.

Open Mic's New Discord Server:

I'd like to officially welcome you all to the new Open Mic Discord server, we have been open a little while now - with many of you having already joined.

But it's still a little quiet and I blame myself partly (I didn't know the world of crazy would set in just after opening it up and I just haven't been there to engage with everyone properly or promptly), I hope to remedy this in the coming weeks and months with some big plans we have in the works.

For now it's very hush hush, as plans are finalised and things evolve - you a can be sure you guys will hear all about it.

In the meantime however, there are heaps of amazing musicians already on there - it's a tool and you guys need to use it to get full advantage.

Ask a question, request a collaboration the world is yours - hell even just go in there and play around listening to some tunes in the jukebox room!

I will be trying to make myself more available on the server as time continues, so feel free to drop by even just for a chat.
