While writing my last post about the actual gold content in a Pyeongchang gold medal, I thought of doing another fun comparison piece.

We will work off the assumption that gold medals since 1912 have the minimum requirement of 6 grams of gold plating. As we unfortunately discovered in my last post, a gold medal is just a silver medal plated with 6 grams of gold.

The gold in 1 gold medal, has just about the same gold content as a single gold cube from Menē:

Finally, the most Gold Medals ever won by an Olympian is Michael Phelps. He has an unbelievable 23 gold medals.

The Olympian’s that won these medals sacrificed much of their lives to gain the skills to achieve these victories. This type of dedication should be recognized and given notice. It is a monumental testament to commitment and hard work.

I also believe that the average person, is in their own way an Olympian. We all give up time away from our loved ones to earn a living for decades to provide for our selves and our families.

When we do that, we should be able to keep and protect our accumulated savings. We all need protection from relentless inflation and currency debasement. The only way to achieve this is to have some of our savings in gold.

Not only do we deserve to wear gold, we deserve it to be 24 karat gold that will protect it’s own value forever.

And do it in a way we are proud to wear!
