Day Dreaming of Outer Space ..

In My Elementary Years ..

When board of my academics I would get lost in my thoughts. I think most people called this daydreaming. I would daydream and completely lose track of time and what was being said in front of the class by the teacher. I did not keep a lot of my childhood sketches that I would doodle on the inside of my notebook or on the sides of my notes. I do however remember daydreaming of outer space, spacecraft, aliens, anything dealing with extra terrestrial activity.

For This Childhood Memory Entry ..

I wanted to quickly sketch something in a daydream sort of way. I’m not a big sketcher when it comes to Syfy so it looks a little elementary and I want to quickly sketch it as though I was back in the days of my youth. Although it is mediocre and content it brought back fond memories of school, friends, and days long gone by. If I had a do over, I don’t think I would change a thing. It all got me to where I am today… And a very happy place… And here with all of you!

Here Are My Progress Photos..

I started off with a quick pencil sketch of the ship. I decided to add a little guy, a little Martian, within the ship. Not sure he’s really cool looking but hey he’s driving a spaceship! I penciled in everything else as I would have if I was sitting in my chair in my elementary school class. I decided to add a few bubbles as though the spacecraft were powered by soap. I feel like this is something I would’ve thought up at an early age. Then a headlight so he could see through the darkness of space and of course a tail light so nobody hits him from behind. LOL. Other than that I believe he is leaving one world in order to explore another. I finished up with some shading and then outlining various details in ink.

Well There You Have It ..

I traveled back in time to some childhood memories from the days are used to doodle in my notebooks instead of actually taking notes. Somehow I survived and I’m able to eat and afford a place to stay given never really paying attention in school. By no way am I saying school is not cool (kids, pay attention)... But I survived!!!

About Me ~ The Artist

My art work incorporates a wide variety of subject matter, including landscape, seascape, cityscape, and still life images. My works are the product of a continuing process of exploration through which I seek to portray personal and visionary interpretations of my surroundings. My paintings are impressions of places and events from everyday life, an interpretation of my imagination, and personal responses to what I see and feel on a daily basis. More recently I have invested generous amounts of time into my landscape painting. I am surrounded by natural and man made beauty, which inherently presents itself in the tri-state area, and almost demands that I paint it.

Not everything is art. Art is not everything, but it comes close. Art is everywhere and all the time. Art makes you experience the beauty of the world, the people in it, and the places we call home. Art itself is so influential that it can tell stories, show feelings, and express passion or fury. Art exists in addition to language; expression of sensations and thoughts, revealing a way of thinking too subtle and delicate for words.

For me art requires love, honesty and perseverance. In return, it reveals some personal, non-analyzable, and creative untamed passion. For the public, art with its magnificent beauty, improves mood and health and builds better human beings and communities. It engages the intellect, softens the heart, strengthens the soul and frees the spirit.

It's a great drawing,
The school is an incredible place, but many times as you say, many of us are daydreaming. . And you if you dreamed many things, GREAT IMAGINATION!!
I really like the idea it has good elements to be a SUPER fully equipped spaceship, of course the Martian could not miss, if not, the spaceship would not fly! not? hhheeehhe ... And the great story that you have told, I liked it a lot more, because I can understand where this crazy but incredible idea has come from.
When we are small we tend to dream stupid things, but many times those dreams can be made real, even in drawings hehehe.
I like the last part! It is good that you give the example to the children who should pay attention in the school XD.

Ha ha Ha ha ha… That ship better fly! He/she need to get on out here. Yes I’m glad I did some daydreaming in school, but I also paid attention a bit. I did OK… Learn something I imagine. I was just trying to nurture my future creative self LOL. Thanks for the vote and support! I thought after everything I wrote I better explain that I think kids should stay in school and pay attention… LOL.

Yes, there was time for everything, to dream and to pay attention. You learn a lot of things and I think you have a lot of fun too, that's valid. The Martian is indispensable hehehehe.
Yes, the end has been the best, "kids, do not do what I did" hehehheh.

It is a pleasure to support you.

I love to hear that you wouldn't change a thing if you would go back in the past. So many people wish to change something but I think that past should stay the way it is...

Of course he looks cool! I especially like his curly hair :) BTW, everyone driving a spaceship is cool! It's a great doodle and I like those cute bubbles coming out of his spaceship :)

Have a great weekend! Thank you for sharing!

Thanks @delishtreats! You always have the right words to make me feel better. Yea.. no regrets. If I like where I am now, then I have my past to thank for it. Have a great weekend too! Thanks for the support

:-)

Hi @bdmillergallery.. I really like your sketches so I upvoted and followed you. I am new here so just getting the hang. I must check out more of your art. I dabble a little myself with design and paintings..

I used to have similar daydreams & sketches at school of "outer-space" and "space-travel" Rockets/"Spaceships" etc. I was very interested in and studied all aspects of the heliocentric theory, and all that was said to exist in "outer-space". I knew everything about it all, reading many books and watching many "documentaries" throughout my life. I had a keen interest in astronomy, as well as real astrology.. not the nonsense of horoscopes that it is disguised to be by the main-stream media, so as to keep people's minds away from what the night sky reveals.

I had always been a big fan of science-fiction, loving many of the classic novels & sci-fi movies involving "aliens" and "space-adventures" written by authors and produced by Hollywood & government controlled mainstream media "documentaries" using early special FX and now virtual-reality CGI that is indistinguishable from actual reality to the uncritical eye and mind.

But, have you ever taken the time to provide a single verifiable, observable, repeatable, testable scientific proof to yourself, as is the requirement for something to be labelled "scientific", in order to convince yourself, that you live on the "spinning globe earth" theory.. or for the existence of "outer-space, "planets", the possibility of the existence of "aliens" and even the scientific possibility of "space-travel" in an alleged vacuum? Just curious.

If you were to provide yourself those proofs, what would they be? ;)

Thanks for the interesting insight, support and for appreciating my art work. See you around!

Spacecraft powered by soap bubbles... brilliant idea. I really like that your entry to the childhood memories made you revisited this kind of innocent idea.

Charming and adorable, what a lovely art :D.

Awe @scrawly... I appreciate your thoughtful message. I was feeling that my point was going to be overlooked. So happy that you got it. Art has a strange way of transporting us to where ever we need to be for the moment. :-)

What a relatable memory ! I also doodled and ignored lessons at my childhood school days, to draw and while the time away with sketches XD And yep, space and sci-fi adventures were one of my favourite topics also ! :D :D :D

Thank you for entering the contest, Brad :) I love the way you present the step by step pictures of this piece, also :)

Thanks spider! I enjoyed your contest. It really made me think back to my childhood and the things I appreciated and did not appreciate enough. Although the strolling is crap, I really liked the step back in time I took because of it. Probably the only reason I posted it. I drew sci-fi kind of stuff or window frames and tables and chairs just a weird mix of stuff. LOL. I always appreciate your support!!!
