Dear Skimmers, I Know What You’re Thinking: “Dang, Dan! You Really Made Me Work My Arse Off On This One.”

in #not-effortless5 years ago (edited)

If you think the title of this article is long, you’re right, it’s a long title but I’m pretty sure it’s nothing compared to the body of this one. I know what you’re thinking, “Dan, what do you mean by pretty sure?” I say pretty sure because, well, I haven’t written it yet, in fact, you and I are reading this for the first time together—this opening paragraph is merely the starting point. However, considering I have nearly 40 pictures to share with you that were taken over a two week #travel period that spans three countries and, I still need to somehow tie it all together, it’s safe to say “pretty sure” is a safe bet. On that note—get your thumbs out, skimmers, I’m about to put’em to work! 👍🏿

Welcome to my #blog. Pura and I couldn’t get out of Playas Del Coco, Costa Rica, fast enough. Our last day there was the weekend of June 23rd—the same weekend as their annual iron man event attracting spectators from across the country causing road closures alongside our apartment the Sunday our plane was scheduled to depart. We ended up checking out a day two weeks and one day early to avoid missing our flight. We stayed at a Hilton conveniently located next to the airport where we were only ripped off one time, that we’re aware of, by the young tica working the gift shop who charged us twice for the same bottle of water thinking we were tourists. Unfortunately for her, we’d been there for six months at that point and knew we had to keep an eye out for that ish everywhere we breathed. We called her on it and, to her dismay, she had to give us our money back—typical Costa Rican etiquette.

As I enjoyed my final cup of coffee at the apartment that last Saturday morning while closing the book on Costa Rica, I couldn’t help but notice this giant set of wings outside the kitchen window:

I know what you’re thinking, “Dan, what in the heck is that flying thing?! Is it a moth or a butterfly or what?” That, my friends, is a moth, code name: Mothra. But I’m not certain who the prey is in this next picture—Mothra or the gecko. 🤔

7FED3AB7-4D8A-440D-986C-8C3E080402EB.jpeg

The seven hour flight to JFK flew by—literally. This is what New York City looks like from a few thousand feet in the air—we ain’t in Kansas Costa Rica anymore, toto #PALNet.

1BD1332F-101D-4BE8-AB8B-423FD1542BAF.jpeg

#Funny fact (I wrote this part down so I wouldn’t forget to tell you): As @puravidaville and I exited the plane and followed suit toward the cab line, we were directly behind two little boys around age 10, most likely brothers, accompanied by their mother. The younger boy said to the older, “if we get in a smart car and I fart in it, does that make my fart a smart fart?” Yeah, he said that... I laughed out loud.

It was pretty late by the time we grabbed an authentic NYC falafel wrap from a street vendor and got checked into our hotel room. We knew we had a busy couple of days ahead of us in the city, acquiring some needed western conveniences, before flying out to London and we needed a good nights sleep—mission accomplished. I’m not sure which view I enjoyed more, the one from the airplane or this one from the hotel room: 🤔

5D3767E0-BC02-4CE3-BE79-B2F638748B8A.jpeg

I know what you’re thinking (still), “Dan, what’s up with that chem-trail flying across the center of the sky?” To that I say, trails shmails, welcome to America! The land where acquiring some pre-rolls, hybrid grams, rice crispy treats and brownies is even easier than those falafel wraps I was telling you about.

E66583EB-E31D-49B8-BB03-97D5527B72CB.jpeg

I know what you’re thinking (again), “hey Dan, those food weed trucks sell pipes, too?” Negative, they don’t. For pieces, papers, rollers, grinders, pens and pretty much everything except for the all-naturally grown flower itself, just walk into your nearest convenience store.

0B0CBDD5-D6B6-470D-94D5-AC33CA9F8163.jpeg

Speaking of western conveniences—three things you don’t realize you miss until you can’t have them are Clear Eyes (maybe it’s just me), Burts Bees chapstick (definitely not just me) and Starbucks (maybe it’s just Pura):

CD94B35B-5A5B-44F2-BA16-56294B95E34D.jpeg

FBB476B9-8FE6-4E5E-9ECC-A2D228DFFD28.jpeg

As soon as we walked into Starbucks, we were greeted by a Bose surround sound playing Mista Dobalina by Del The Funky Homosapein—it was nice to be back in the states. As we grabbed our coffees and headed out the door, the track changed to Tennessee by Arrested Development. #Fun fact: Tennessee just happens to be my favorite state in the whole country—true #story. I said to Pura, “it’s a sign.”

Another convenience I didn’t realize I’d miss until I was away from the states for six months is a good pair of shoes—welcome to the New Balance store in the middle of Times Square.

7CCFF1FD-B2CE-4009-AD1D-0DE95B16DCB0.jpeg

I know what you’re thinking, “Dan wears black socks so he’s probably going to get a black pair of New Balance—the ones with grey soles.”

09275CA5-9AB6-4DEE-BB9D-D7301FD1F690.jpeg

To that I’d say nice assumption—good guess! But apparently I’ve never told you my favorite color:

5A31748E-C96D-421D-A717-185FDFBFD472.jpeg

Fact—even my phone case is pink. And not all of my socks are black, either, I have a few pink pairs, pink gym towel, pink beanie, etc. Eh, by the way, am I the only one who thinks it’s weird I never ran into Method Man while venturing the streets of New York? Really, I kept expecting to see him but I never did. It’s just me again, isn’t it? Yeah, it’s probably just me, fair enough.

By this time it was pretty late and we were both exhausted from loading up on our western consumerism conveniences—iheart Best Buy! We journeyed back through Times Square, picked up another two-pack of falafel wraps, and headed to our hotel room. Tomorrow is a day for sight seeing and we needed some rest—g’night!

Good morning, #steem blockchain! Sight seeing in New York City—I know what you’re thinking, “Dan, did you see the Empire State Building? What about World Trade Center and the Memorial at Ground Zero?” Yes, yes and yes. Our first camera activity of the day was Madison Square Garden, home to the New York Knicks, on the corner of 33rd and 7th:

E1638EC4-CAD3-4656-A9B1-6834645B70D1.jpeg

Continuing east on 33rd toward 5th Street is the 102 story Empire State Building standing at a grand total of 1,454 feet (443 meters) tall:

157A79DC-ECCB-4225-9112-7C0A1214EC2C.jpeg

I know what you’re thinking, “but, Dan, you were right down the street from it, why didn’t you get a closer #photo for me?” Don’t worry, I did. I just thought you’d enjoy taking a walk with me through Midtown Manhattan for a close-up of what was, for nearly 40 years, the tallest building in the world:

Next stop: Lady Liberty. Our plane to London didn’t depart until 11pm so we caught an Uber down to Battery Park in Manhattan for a view of the Statue of Liberty.

06DC9580-E858-4C15-906C-D16CD28C3FA7.jpeg

Yeah, yeah, I know what you’re thinking, “Dan, it’s too far away, I can barely see it.” I know, we could barely see it, too. But have you ever seen the Statue of Liberty from a distance at the same time a floating billboard passes by that says...

5A801753-3E51-4C7E-A18D-BCF05BDB3EBB.jpeg

Still isn’t close enough, right? I agree. To our surprise, we found this sailboat docked in the New York harbor that does an hour long cruise out and around Lady Liberty every other hour. The next sailing tour takes off in 30 minutes—we put our names on the list.

2C01CC2D-C4EE-4567-8CB2-EF87BEF0E073.jpeg

While we waited, we spent some time honoring the 4,601 American servicemen who died at sea during World War 2 at East Coast Memorial. The monument was striking—it consists of eight 19-foot tall granite pylons in the shape of tombstones, two rows of four, with all 4,601 names, rank and title, listed in alphabetical order facing the Statue of Liberty. Separating the two rows of tombstones is this hand-sculpted eagle made entirely of bronze.

6B838CA2-1942-4A72-B706-98D06F5F417B.jpeg

The eagle stands on a pedestal made of black granite, dedicated by President John F. Kennedy on May 23rd, 1963—exactly six months prior to his assassination. The pedestal reads:

F8834A7F-B4FB-407D-8128-864ACF14F5BB.jpeg

30 minutes was quite a bit of time to take it all in—a memory that will last a lifetime. Should you find yourself in New York, I recommend making a trip down to Battery Park to see the monument through your own eyes, it’s about three blocks away from World Trade Center.

Now let’s get on that boat and see what the New York skyline and Statue of Liberty look like from the New York Harbor. This first shot is a look over the bow of the boat at Jersey City, New Jersey.

F18A7C7D-7676-4002-A1C4-1B274FF35D50.jpeg

I know what you’re thinking, “hey, Dan, did you get a shot of Jersey City without the boat obstructing the view?” Good question! Yes, actually, I did—Jersey City, New Jersey:

Lower Manhattan skyline where One World Trade Center, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere is located at 285 Fulton Street. One World Trade Center, also known as One WTC or, Freedom Tower, stands at 1,792 feet (546.2 meters) opened in November, 2014 following the September 11th attacks in 2001.

Statue of Liberty—Lady Liberty or, “Liberty Enlightening The World,” is a gift from France dedicated to the United States on October 28th, 1886. The statue is designed by French sculptor, Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and constructed by Alexandre Gustave Eiffel. Eiffel is most famous for proving his theory that triangles are the strongest form of construction and proved his theory by building the highly criticised Eiffel Tower in 1889—the now most visited monument in the world followed closely by the copper sculpture, Statue of Liberty, located on Liberty Island, previously used as a smallpox quarantine station in the 18th century (to this day, all structures from race cars to skyscrapers are designed and built with angled, triangular support).

I know what you’re thinking, “Dan, that’s a really nice shot but did the sailboat get you closer to the statue?” Another good question—I’m glad you asked. Yes, this is the view from the sailboat as we approached the statue and circled back toward Manhattan:

As the sailboat cruise came to an end, I grabbed one last shot of the Lower Manhattan skyline—the first image I’m about to show you. The second #photo is looking to the east of Manhattan at Brooklyn, New York. I also wrote down the playlist during our cruise—I’ll attach individual links to the soundtrack we listened to as we sailed across New York Harbor after the Brooklyn picture which, in my opinion, the #music is equally as important as the images.

Everyday People. Released by Sly & The Family Stone in 1968 and covered by Arrested Development in 1992 kicked off to our sailing tour.
Higher Ground. Released by Stevie Wonder in 1973 and covered by Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1990.
Hard To Handle. Otis Redding, released by Atco Music in 1968 following the sudden death of Otis in 1967 and covered by The Black Crowes in 1990.
I Can See Clearly Now. Released by Johnny Nash in 1972 and covered by Jimmy Cliff in 1993.
America The Beautiful. Released by Ray Charles in 1976, originally written by Kathy Lee Bates in 1895 is the song we listened to as we circled Statue of Liberty.
(The following six songs played as we sailed back to the docks)
Welcome To New York. Released by Taylor Swift in 2014.
Young Americans. Released by David Bowie in 1975.
Man On The Moon. Released by R.E.M. in 1992.
Grace is Gone. Released by Dave Matthews Band in 2002.
Wagon Wheel. Released by Darius Rucker in 2013.
Gin & Juice. (The last song—it played as the crew mates docked the boat and we exited the tour) Released by Travis Tritt, Alan Jackson and Garth Brooks in 2002—a cover song originally performed by Snoop Doggy Dog in 1994.

See what I mean about the playlist being equally as important as the photos in the sailing tour? I know what you’re thinking, “Dan, I’m glad you wrote those songs down—thank you!” Me too, you’re welcome. 👍🏿

The final stop on our sight seeing tour before boarding our flight to London was National September 11 Memorial & Museum. It’s located at 180 Greenwich Street, New York, NY and commemorates the 2001 September 11 attacks that killed 2,997 people from all walks of #life. It’s a 208 X 208 foot water feature—the exact same dimensions as each tower. The massive flow of water whose construction was completed in 2014 falls toward an infinite-looking hole in the earth—each innocent victims name is inscribed in granite along the water features edge:

Thanks a lot for following along with me—I haven’t had a lot of time to be as active on the platform as I usually am. Between touring, traveling, tending to some personal business and this beautiful life each of us are blessed to enjoy, Pura and I haven’t had much time for blogging. Keep an eye out for the next part of our #adventure where I’ll be guiding you through an up close and personal tour of our current location:

Hey my man, glad to see that everything is going well. It has to be great to finally have gotten out of Costa Rica. I thought that moth in the window was a bat.
Kids say the funniest things.
Boy you guys got in a lot while in the city. There is so much to see and the places that you visited would have been on the top of my list too. There has been so much building going on in the city, I don't know how Manhattan has not sunk.
The Statue of Liberty is a must see. During the renovation of the statue, from 1982 thru 1986 I worked for my brother and we installed commercial metal roofing systems. A new boat dock was constructed on the opposite side of Liberty Island during this time period. The new boat dock was where the tourists would exit the boats that brought them out to the island. My brother's company, Old Queens construction Co., funny name ha, did the work. He graduated from Rutgers University, and back in the day the name of the college was Old Queens. We installed the metal roofing on the dock.
Tourists-on-Liberty-Island.jpg
The scaffolding that was required to do the renovating was a feat in itself.
During the work on Lady Liberty workers were to lazy to come down off of the scaffoling and were pissing on her. The statue was discoloring where these fools relieved themselves. When the reason for the discoloration of the copper was discovered it was front page news for weeks.
()

Thanks for including the songs from the music played while on the boat.
Young Americans, haven't listened to that one in a while.
Gin & Juice, never heard that one. Funny song to be playing as you depart the boat.😁😁
You should have seen Jersey City 20-25 years ago. Ghetto to say the least. Now it is an area that attracts all of the yuppies, bring your check book.
Thanks for sharing this part of your adventure with us. Keep us posted.

Have been away for a while also. We just got back from vacationing at the Jersey shore with the family. Got back Tuesday, had a great time and I'm sure #farm-mom will post something, she must have taken 500 pictures.

Enjoy your adventures and continue to stay safe.

You know you smashed another comment homerun here, right? You’re such a major leaguer! 😉 Good morning from Leeds, UK (home to The Beatles), my favorite New Yorker! Thank you for this comment.

Yeah, we definitely crammed a lot in during those 2 days in NYC—we both had a great time. It was go-go-go which means we fit right in. Not a soul around there who isn’t on a mission with somewhere to be. You know what man? There’s more junkies on the streets of Manhattan than anywhere I’ve seen, sir, it’s heartbreaking. And I’m from LA, Pura is from San Francisco so I’m pretty sure I’ve had equal opportunities to witness the aftermath of those drugs, the streets there in Manhattan are pretty disturbing. Do you agree? Have you been there recently?

The smart fart kid. Haha! I know you have more stories than me but kids say the greatest stuff!

That’s really neat you guys were the ones to install the roof, this comment of yours is nothing shy of an article, in case I haven’t told you lately, I’m glad we met. 👍🏿

That’s crazy about the pissing. My career consisted a lot of designing power grids, erecting tower cranes and control circuits for tower cranes so I’m very familiar with staying hundreds of feet in the air all day—you do what you have to do and it’s absolitely common to piss in bottles, hoist the bucket down for the other, it’s normal. Never in my life have I so much as heard of someone pissing off the side of a tower. But on the Statue of Liberty?! Dude that really makes me want to drop the F wOrd right here—punks!

True story: Even as we were sailing around her, even looking at the pictures prior to this article, I asked Pura several times, “is there lights shining at it?” ...”I don’t remember seeing any lighting glowing in the day time.. How/why is it glowing like that?” It wasn’t until I did this article I learned it’s made entirely out of copper—now I get it! 👍🏿

My pleasure listing the sound track—I’m glad you appreciated it. Yeah, gin & juice, ha!! I’d never heard that one either. Even when I was researching it for this article, Pura said “no way! Garth Brooks?!” Laugh out loud!

It’s always a pleasure hearing from you, sir, thanks a lot for keeping an eye on us.

Thanks for stopping by @thebigsweed. We’re 5 hours ahead of you, you’re probably sleeping, hopefully I’ll see you at #fff later on.

Good morning. Yeah, the War on Drugs and Just say No don't seem to have worked. So many junkies, and from so many walks of life. Everyone knows at least one person that has died from overdosing. My sons have lost two of their very best friends from getting hooked on prescription drugs, ordered by doctors due to injuries.

I believe the big pharm companies are the biggest pushers of all, and do it with the blessings of society. That seems to be changing as they are now being held somewhat accountable.
Leeds UK, home of the Beetles, must be some very interesting stuff to see there.
Big day at the farm today. We finally got several days of no rain, and my wife's cousin has cut the hay and it will be an all out assault to get the hay in the barn before it rains later today. Should be about 500 bails.
#fff is on the list as I start to ramp up my participation again on steemit. laid low while on vacation, and am excited to start posting again. Got some good material that I think people may enjoy.
Talk soon and let the wife know we are also thinking of her!

No skimmy-mcskimmerson here. I perfectly paced my bowl of delicious dinner to finish the last bite right as I caught up with you in London. Looks like the quick stop in NYC was a success. I have some fond memories from my few visits to the city, so it always brings me back to those when I see pics like yours. Thanks for jogging the old memory bank. Looking forward to catching up more on the latest adventures. Thanks for checking in with your Steemy pals!

You know its gonna be a good day when my favorite second favorite Plant stops by! 😏 <— I just learned something, that winking emoji looks different on the iPad than my phone, you probably already knew that, didn't you? Good morning (it’s 8:30 here) @plantstoplanks, I only miss you all the time and thanks a lot for keeping an eye on us.

Yes, NYC was a success. In fact, this keyboard I’m using right now was one of my “wa! Wa!” Conveniences i was talking about. I never liked typing on the iPad before because it would get all hazed over with finger prints. I know... I have a long list of idionerdiosyncrocies.

Thanks for stopping by @plantstoplanks. I’m glad you enjoyed the pictures—my pleasure! Sorry I haven’t been by your page lately, things should slow down a little bit by the end of this weekend and give us some time to catch up with ya’all.

edit Hey! I forgot to ask.. what was in the bowl?

I know you two have been busy traveling, so no hurt feelings about the lack of visits. ;) It was a homemade sweet and sour tofu with eggplant and zucchini from the farmers market. Topped with some Napa cabbage and garden cukes marinated in a bit of a kimchi-ish sauce for some heat. Since you asked...
IMG_20190702_164627749.jpg

Well, the way you wrote and described it made it sound good. Even the picture looks yum! Man, really though, I’ve never been able to stomach tofu. Tiny bits, larger chunks, in salads, in stews or chilis, I can’t hang with it. My mouth really disagrees with the texture of tofu. Reminds me of something like mushy, flavorless peas with a hard apple skin coating or something.

And it’s actually high in protein which is something I’m always looking for and need—it sucks! I’ll even eat not so appetizing, bird seed type, unsweetened chocolate bar things just for the protein—tofu would be so much easier. Got any suggestions?

What about my description, how’d I do? Really, though, if you have any suggestions, I’m all ears eyes.

Posted using Partiko iOS

It took me a while to jump on the tofu bandwagon, but now I'm totally there. I still think tempeh is my favorite, though, so perhaps that is more your speed? It has a lot more texture to it, so I know some people like that more. My dad (not a vegan) really likes tempeh, especially in chili. Have you tried tofu scramble yet? I feel like when you mash it up and mix it in with a crap-ton of veggies you can't even tell you're eating it. Especially if you pop it in a wrap.

I'll have to come up with some more ideas for you, but I think @thekitchenfairy is pretty bomb at making tofu (and she's a fellow tempeh lover, too) in all her awesome dishes. I think @lenasveganliving had a tofu recipe I wanted to try at one point, too, but by golly my stomach just isn't big enough for all the yummy stuff I want to try from my favorite steem bloggers!

Hello @dandays, how are you doing? I haven't heard from you for a long time. Where have you been? Apparently you have left Rica and traveled to America. I enjoy your photos. but your writing is too long so my English translator can't function properly so I have to translate one paragraph per paragraph. Enjoy your day, sir.

I think your translator needs a raise then because I understood this response perfectly.

Thanks for stopping by @elianaelisma.

Busy busy busy!!! I read your entire post but I'm not sure what to say!

The fart was pretty funny I think too.

Is NOLA as busy as this place is? I'm just seeing everything here and I think I'd feel a bit of suffocation. Well I'm there for 4 days only so I will survive. Not sure I could do the whole New York thing though.

Posted using Partiko Android

Well if it isn’t my favorite tattoo gettin’ Foxy Canadian. Good morning @foxyspirit, thanks for checking this one out!

No, heck no Nawlins isn’t that busy—not even close! You’ll find one intersection on Bourbon Street where it’s shoulder to shoulder but its literally about the length of a studio apartment and then you’re back to breathing room. You’re going to have a great time, I cant wait to hear read about it.

Yeah.. Eh, that smart fart comment was frikkin funny.

Thanks a lot for stopping by @foxyspirit, it’s always a pleasure to hear from you.

Hehehe hello there! And to say I got another addition to my back piece done just yesterday.

I am from a small town of 300 population. I like how I can go for walks and rarely see people. So big cities like New York is quite intimidating.... I'm just getting up and my shirt is stuck to my tattoo!!!! Uh oh!!! 😬

Posted using Partiko Android

It's seriously stuck on 😣😣😣

Posted using Partiko Android

Do you use aquaphor? You probably do. Man, I didn’t learn about aquaphor until I was probably 30’ish. That meant I’d been getting tattoos for 12-13 years and using “tattoo-goo,” “A&D ointment,” all of the lame ish that stuck to my clothes! Lame.

Whichever one it is you’re using, I bet that didn’t feel delicate pulling it off your back. What’d ya get?? You have a special tattoo shirt? You have to sleep with it on for about 5 days, huh?

Good morning from Leeds, UK (home of The Beatles), miss @foxyspirit.

I have to say I don't know about aquaphor 😣 I usually just dry heal until the itching gets unbearable, then I use Burt's bees lotion to sooth. Works nice.

I ended up showering with the shirt on to be able to peel it off nicely. I don't have a special tattoo shirt lol. I just wear whatever I got that won't touch it, a light shirt that I don't care about when going outside to keep it covered from the sun. For nights, well I just can't sleep on my back so I don't get the best of sleep. The first night I couldn't get comfortable so I wore a regular black t-shirt to keep it safe and slept on my back. Bad idea!

Sweet place you're at dude!!

So far, so great! Nobody ever told me how affordable things are in England. Everything from towels to produce, to bottled water and whatever else. Even restaurants, I’m really surprised. Not fuel, though! I don’t ever plan on driving here anyway, nofa King way! Right side driving cars on the left side of the road—I’m not exaggerating, just crossing the street on foot is dangerous.

Look into auqaphor, I bet you’ll love it. It rubs into your skin like a lotion and doesn’t stick to your clothes when you sleep. I wish I would’ve found it at the beginning of my tattoo day’s rather than umpteen years later. 👍🏿 Let me know what you think. That’s my opinion anyway, then I use lubraderm on a daily basis on the rest of me. Johnson’s baby lotion is pretty good too.

I hope you’re having a great weekend, Foxy.

Posted using Partiko iOS

You know, I thought it would be quite expensive. Who knew???

I wouldn't be driving there either. It looks condusi to me.

I'll definitely look into it, in tired of sticky shirts lol. It's in the dry cracking phase right now. It sucks to move😂

Deal!

Thanks for stropping by @o4wx! And thanks for all of your support both here and at @artzone—much appreciated.

That was a really nice tour round New York. Your photos are especially beautiful...

The Ten year kids happens to be a smart one, and well, quite curious... i wonder what more his head could be thinking up sometimes... Funny kid!

I love the night view of New York from up high....

The sculpture of the eagle is really astonishing, its shiny and beautiful. The stature of liberty is also such a beauty from upclose, the shots from a distance is also cool, with the floating bill board...

Looking forward to seeing more of your adventures.

Well, well, well—good morning! You know I love it when my favorite Nigerian stops by, right? It’s gonna be a great day—happy Friday, Audrey.

I’m glad you appreciated the pictures. You’re very welcome.

Kids—ha! I don’t have any but pretty much all of my friends do, some as many as four—they’re lunatics! The things they say.. here, speaking of the things kids say, ima tell you a story. I’m always reminded of this one whenever kids say... well, when they say what they think.

Drove my buddies pregnant wife to a dr appointment, at the time, they only had one chicks, their daughter who is 15 now. Ok, at the time, she’s about 4-5. Mind you, her mom is about 8 months pregnant and getting a pregnancy check-up, the daughter is very hip to the appointment.

I’m in the waiting room the daughter while mom is getting checked out. A very overweight woman was in the dr office waiting room also, daughter walks over to her and says “my mommy is having a baby brother too!” And rubbed circles on her stomach.

Oooohh crap! Uhh.... yeah, what do you do?! “Uhm, sorry?” Laugh out loud!

I really liked that night shot too. I had three of them—that one was the best and least blurry.

I really appreciate you keeping an eye on us Audrey, thank you!

Thanks for stopping by @audreybits, I hope you have the best weekend of the year.

So I’m thinking when I am doing a math problem in my head and I am thinking really hard about it, I tend to rip a nice one. Would that be considered a “smart fart”.... I really like where that kid’s head it at.... you might have wanted to ask if his last name was Splatts. Hahaha

Those are some awesome pics homie!!! I’m not a fan of being big cities whatsoever but the sites are defiantly one to experience. One day I will get there, one day. But until then I am just going to enjoy life in the place so nice they named it twice 😉
Dude thanks for taking us all along on your adventure. You guys are awesome!!!

Walla Walla whhaaaat?? I just laughed again when you said his name might’ve been Splatts—that’s funny! Yeah, the things kids say, right? But associating a smart car to a fart is frikkin classic! I never would’ve thought of that one. Gotta hand it to the little guy.

I’m glad you enjoyed the pictures man. Thanks for suggesting I run this in a series type blog rather than one novel-sized article—good call! Cuz although we’ve only been in the UK for a week now, I have even more images currently, including the #fff shots i just got yesterday, than I did NYC and this article already took me a really long time to put together. Thanks mang! 👍🏿

Thanks for stopping by @jlsplatts—you mathematician you.

For sure that kid nailed it!! I’m sure I will be hearing some good stuff today at the family BBQ. My twin niece and nephew call me Uncle fart, Uncle dirty diaper, Uncle ..... they are 5 and we have some pretty good battles. Lol

Looking forward to the second installment. I really like how you ended with the photo in London. That is just such a classic photo.

😎

Oh dude! You just took me way back. Almost 20 years actually to the Y2K era. As soon as I saw Kim, I took off to YouTube to look up this track—as soon as she released that one I was like “who in the heck is Lil Kim?!” I went down to Warehouse Music (remember that place?!) and bought her cd (remember those things?) and was blown the F away to hear her put it down the way she did—nobody had the ...... to say it like she said it.

Hey man, I shot you an email just before we split Costa Rica, did you get it? By the way, was I in the wrong spot or what? Method and Red don’t just hang out around Times Square? 😏

Thanks for stopping by @weirdheadaches.

Awesome man :). I remember when cds first came out, we were all mind blown, no more tapes lol. Funny, my cousins son was riding with us and we kept saying "yeah you remember that tape" lol. His kid was like what the heck is a tape haha. I did the same with 8 tracks lol. I actually have a nice set of 8 tracks lol. Forget which car i had that actually had a working 8 track player lmao.

I did read it, thanks for the mention. Crazy stuffs. I had a reply that somehow didn't go through. Ill try and scroll back through later this evening. Hope your travels are running smoothly. Ttys ✌🏿

I’m just glad you got it dude—no worries. Man, when I tell people I had Joan Jett’s “I Love Rock n Roll” on 8 track they’re like.. “she wasn’t around when 8 tracks were out. I’m like “look it up!!” They don’t believe me and I’ll tell em “Crimson n Clover was on side B.” I’m the dumbest guy in the room until they ask google. 👍🏿 Na! Na! Oh yeah.. Joan Jett On 8-track. Man, that’s an awesome memory. The push button player with a turntable on top. You had one in your car though.. gangster! You’re my hero.
