Frontkjempere (Front Fighters)

The last couple of months i have been involved in a really exiting project. We have been filming a documentary about the 4500 Norwegians that joined the wrong side and fought with Waffen SS on the eastern front in WW2.

It´s a story that has been held very quiet, weighted down with shame and hate. Many of the surviving soldiers was sentenced with treason when they returned home after the war.

Many have argued that most of the Norwegians that joined the Germans did it to defend Norway against the Russians and the socialism that people feared greatly before the war.
But lately, historians have found out that most of them actually sympathised with the SS ideologies, and some of them even participated in war crimes.

The Norwegians fought mainly in three different fronts/units;

• The Norwegian Legion at the Leningrad front
• SS Division Wiking in Ukraine
• Regiment Norway, also in Ukraine
  Out of the 4500 Norwegians that joined SS, about 900 was killed.

The documentary will has already been sold to several channels in different countries. In Norway, it will be on NRK probably late next year :)
