Recent Steemit UI Changes

in #news8 years ago (edited)

Many of you have probably noticed some new changes to the Steemit UI! It looks like a new release was deployed today :)

Here are some of the highlights:

Follower Count Fixed

The issue where follower counts were being incorrectly reported should now be fixed.

Witness Proxy Voting

If you would rather delegate your witness voting power to someone else, you can now do it through the Steemit witness page.

Muted Users Shown On Settings Page

If you have muted someone, they will now show up on your settings page. This makes it easy to keep track of who you have muted.

Auto-Populate Usernames

When a dialog box pops up, it will pre-populate the username box with the appropriate username. The usernames also now have an @ in front of them, to help the user know the correct format to use when typing them in.

Wallet Stripes

The wallet page now uses gray/white stripes, to make it easier to read.

SBD Conversions Shown in Wallet

SBD conversions that are in progress are now shown in the wallet, and counted towards your wallet total!

Here are the full release notes from GitHub:

Thanks Tim.

Is there any talk about why five tags cause issues?

Yes, there is a lot of discussion/activity around it. It is a glitch in the Steem blockchain code though, so unfortunately it is probably not going to be fixed until the next hardfork.

You can track the progress here:
https://github.com/steemit/steem/issues/673

That bug can be fixed without requiring another hardfork. To track progress for that bug, see this pull request. Of course, even after the pull request is merged into develop, Steemit would still need to upgrade their servers to the latest code for the bug to be resolved on steemit.com. But none of that requires a hardfork of the blockchain.

Ah, cool. I didn't realize that after the pull request was accepted that it could be deployed to some nodes without having to get rolled out to the rest of the network in order to work. Thanks for the info!

Tags do not affect the consensus of the network (that is, the rules that dictate account balances).

Thanks - appreciate the clarification! :)

Cool (well, not the "until the next hardfork" part). Thanks!

arhag replied - looks like a hardfork isn't required :)

I am happy the follower counts were fixed. I also noticed the view counter is back to normal as well.

So MANY great updates! That's awesome!

Nobody's mentioning my favourite. Your lists of followers and followees are now alphabetical.

Oh, wow! I didn't notice that one :)

Very cool, I noticed it but did not make anything of it. It makes it much easier to manage.

Thanks for this Tim. Lots of good information!

VERY, very nice. Much appreciated,
THANK YOU to all who worked on this! :)

@creatr
