In addition to the higher cost compared to the Japanese and American versions (in the US, the price tag for the new electric car starts from $ 29,990, in Japan - from $ 28,990), this version will receive a fairly rich package and full support for the technology of unmanned driving Nissan ProPILOT. Sales of this version will begin in early 2018, then standard equipment with a different set of equipment will come to the market.

A new battery charger for home users with a power of 7 kW will fully charge the electric car for 5.5 hours - 70% faster than a similar charge to the previous generation Nissan. The 22 kW version with a full charge in the area of ​​2 hours is intended primarily for business users and taxi services, but if desired, it can be purchased by ordinary users.

In Nissan also announced the expansion of the European network of high-speed charging stations by 20% - from 4,600 units today to 5,600 units in the next 18 months. Moreover, in Nissan they want in the long term to provide owners of electromobiles with free charging due to use of technology of two-way charging, which will allow not only to charge batteries of electric cars, but also to sell the accumulated energy back to the common network at the moments of peak load.

However, one of the most interesting announcements was confirmation of the debut of the New LEAF Nismo Concept at the Tokyo Auto Show. According to the management of the brand, this version should attract a youth audience to the model, which the rather boring outwardly model of the previous generation could not do.

During the European event, only one slide was shown, but even it shows that the "pumped" version will receive a more aggressive aerodynamic body kit, a new bumper, a youth bonnet with a black stripe in the center and probably some technical improvements. It should be noted that this is a modification of the existing version of the Nissan Leaf 2018, and not about the Nissan Leaf E-Plus model promised by the end of 2018 with a more powerful engine and larger batteries at a higher price.

As the manufacturer keeps intriguing until October 25, when the traditional autoexhibition starts in Tokyo, we can assume that it is a question of higher acceleration dynamics and increased maximum speed achieved by lowering the clearance, improved aerodynamics and "racing" tires.

Recall that the base Nissan Leaf 2018 received an electric motor with a capacity of 110 kW / 150 hp. with a torque of 320 nm and a battery of 40 kWh, which provides a range of 240 km in the US cycle EPA or 400 km in the Japanese cycle Japan JC08.

During the event, the new commercial van Nissan e-NV200 with an increased to 40 kWh battery was also introduced (in the first generation a 24 kWh battery was installed), which allowed an increase in the cruising range from 170 to 280 km (NEDC).
