I knew that Steemit
was for me
from the first moment
I heard of this platform.
I had to wait twelve days to activate my account. I was so excited about the opportunity to write whatever I wanted and the possibility of generating money while having fun, that the days seemed like months to me.
My first post went unnoticed, create my own labels and it was clear that it was a hazing: zero votes, zero comments, zero visualizations. I knew it would be hard to make myself noticed, but I did not get discouraged, I understood that I needed to learn about this universe.
The first weeks were of love, hate and stumbles. I remember that I was registered in a trail and my VP remained on the ground and, worse, I did not receive a 0.001 participation. I still can not understand how it is that I'm going to benefit from that.
I have overcome the Facebook syndrome of wanting to like everything that happens in front of my eyes. I monitor my VP level and I take care of managing my upvotes to 10 per day.
One day I discovered the contests and it seemed great. I have won some of them that have helped me cope with the crisis in my country. I'm unemployed, so this became a blessing.
What I love about this planet Steemit, is the amount of wonderful people who seem that their only mission in life is to make others happy.
Yesterday, I participated in a daily giveaways contest of @dreamryder007. I explained that I would use the money to buy augmentation glasses for my daughter and me. Then, @giddyupngo asked what the total was in SBD. I did the calculations and he sent me the amount.
I was so surprised at such generosity, that I could not respond at once. I did not know what to say. When I woke up this morning I ran to my account to verify that it was not a dream.
I need to give back in some way the support they have given me.
I think competitions are fantastic therapy.
Keeping them simple and fun is the key.
I'm thinking of starting one soon.
I also want to enlighten someone's day, just as they have done with me.

jajaja, eso es idioma cubano :) , todo en conjunto significa mucho. Por el ejemplo cuando tu dices tengo un burujon de ropa sobre la cama, significa mucho. Punao, bueno aqui me falto la enie, que como tengo el teclado en ingles no lo pongo por vaguitis aguda, ademas nosotros como hablamos tan bien el espanol que en lugar de decir punado, decimos punao, asi como en lugar de decir amor, decimos amol, vaya un desastre :) Espero que esta leccion de idioma cubano te haya servido de mucho. Bueno y en cualquier momento tu vas a tener que darme una leccion de venezolano a distancia :)

Yes, it is very hard. I do not know how to explain it to you @mariannewest. Sometimes, the documentaries of the events of Nazi Germany come to my memory and I can understand the suffering, the abuse and the injustice that they suffered. The power in the hands of ignorant and devilish people is a terrible damage that a nation can receive. But you know? Losing hope is closing all possibilities of survival. Within this calamity, I try not to focus on the bad, I always try to find the positive. It's like living in a parallel world, but that allows me to gain strength to resist. Steemit has allowed me to fill my fridge. 1 SBD is probably insignificant for you, but for me it becomes that sigh you give when something can be solved. Thanks for your empathy. Hugs for you! ๐

Oh yeah! I am trying to convince the people around me that we can find some consolation to face the current crisis in my country. Steemit not only allows us to earn money, but it also becomes a wonderful therapy. I've drawn, written stories, poems, I made exculpatory letters, participated in competitions, just missing me sing! Steemit has become my float that keeps me safe. But they find it hard to believe that it is true! ๐๐ Thanks for commenting @ossyjay!
I keep running into stories like yours where someone here on Steemit has helped them out. Or even vice versa. It's amazing how much good does happen here, amid all the negativity. While Steemit the site is far from perfect, the people here can be quite generous, so there are interesting opposing forces at work here.
I'm glad you're finding your way. I haven't been that fond of contests myself, but I am a part of the Curation and Engagement Leagues, which encourages manual commenting and upvoting. There are weekly prizes, too. It's helped me get around to different posts, like this one, that I might not find if keeping to my own circles.
So, keep working at it. I'm only in my fifth month, so not that long ago I was the new person. it's not been a lot of time, really, but a lot has happened, and a lot remains the same. You'll see that when you've been around longer.
I wish you well in Venezuela. I understand it's pretty tough down there. I hope things eventually do work out and everyone finds theirway.

Yes, I must admit that at the beginning I felt somewhat disillusioned, because it was not the panacea as they had painted it, but we must also consider that it is a platform with just two years, it is in beta phase and probably, many of its irregularities that will correct in its new version. I've learned to focus on the positive and that's what I do, find in Steemit the reasons to believe it's worth it. I found a lot! Thank you again for your good wishes, we have faith that we will soon close this sad chapter in Venezuela.
