Looking at Steemit & Tribes from an investors perspective.steemCreated with Sketch.

Okay, so I'm a whale in Neoxian. One 100% upvote from me can net you around 70 - 140 neoxag. I have more vested neoxag than there is currently available on the market. I'm beginning to see how hard (and perhaps frustrating) it can be for investors now. Now that I'm walking in their shoes.

I've always thought a whales life would be easy; slapping their ten to twenty upvotes per day and then going about their daily routine. I wanted to be one myself, since forever -- which is why when I saw the price of neoxian so low, and also the quantity available low also, I jumped at the chance. But all isn't quite as it seems. There's a lot of responsibility that comes with being a large stakeholder in a project -- I've realised that it's easier to look afar and judge: here's why.

Branding is everything.

I'd love to just randomly vote people and receive my juicy neoxag and not have to think about it, but with great power comes great responsibility -- and especially if I take it seriously. I've pumped nearly all of my own money into here. To some, that's not much, to me right now that's around the entirety of what I have free in the world. I want to grow this, I want to see this flourish -- but by just randomly voting shit then I hurt the city, and the way that it looks to the outsiders. It also sets the tone of what people will aim for on this platform. Will they strive to do better? Or will they just write poop and not put any effort into their creation because they know they'll get upvotes?

Upvoting is much harder for me now

Is that comment really worth 80 neoxag? That one liner? Does it add any value to the platform? -- beforehand I used to just upvote everything and anything because I believed that everyone should have something -- now that I have lots I find I'm having to weigh the difference between zero value, and a lot of value.

In a way it's a different sort of "being" -- beforehand I was only interested in gaining what I could, and wanted the same for everyone, but now that I have shot all of my own money into this platform I'm thinking about it differently; trained my thoughts around growth, scalability and future investment.

Growth is everything

Demonstrate hard work and enthusiasm and you will be rewarded. Some just want to come and earn a little bit on the side, which is fine, and some want to come in and play big, which is fine also. But if we just sit there and don't do anything then there will be no progress, and people won't to buy into the project. There needs to be a use-case for the token, and there definitely needs to be a "want" for us to participate. For me that's all about finding reasons to get into the project.

It's a different world

I've never been a large scale investor on something that I have the skills to grow. When I've been a large stake investor it's usually related to tech and I sit there watching cluelessly as people work on stuff that I have zero ideas on how to affect any change whatsoever. This time it's different; it's largely about community and content -- two things I've excelled in over the last ten years!

So I'm taking this opportunity to add as much value as I can!!

>> Watch out for my weekly giveaway

You heard that right, I'm giving 10% of my neoxag curation / stake / author rewards every week to the people that really add value to our city. Create, write, or promote -- and join it for a chance to win :)

Peace!

@raymondspeaks, There is no doubt in that, with great power comes great responsibility and most importantly we should empower those who are adding value to the Ecosystem.

Thank you. 🙂

You bring up a very valid point. It is not easy to have a large stake on any platform. Many feel that is the way until they get a bit of stake themselves. Only then does one realize all the different directions pulled.

I do not believe I am a whale on any one platform, I am an Orca on a few Steem Tribes.

Each day I do try to use up all my voting power. One of the big drivers is to keep building my stake through curation (and a few comments).

It's right my friend. To me Steem was a serious payday, now I'm beginning to see the value in adding value -- if that makes sense.

The great thing about the tribe of neoxian is the Integrity of @neoxian because he is a good man as I have proved it to myself so it gives me the confidence that everything will go right about this tribe @raymondspeaks :D

I had a good feeling from the beginning -- my spidey senses are usually on the button with these things ;)

Thank you my good sir! :)

I agree and often I find there is very little I would give my whale vote to in the tribe. I think this links with @justineh's post about who are you writing for?

Yup, I try and be generous -- I mean some people are clearly trying, but then if I keep giving them it will they stop trying? It's a whole new level of thinking lol
