Needlework monday - Handmade Laptop Case

I finally have something to share on #needleworkmonday!
I do occasionally knit, but it's more a winter thing for me, so it's been a few months. Last week, though, I got out some old blankets and tablecloths and found a thread and needle to transform them into a bag for my laptop!

Started like this:

I put together two layers of the old blanket with a piece of two different tablecloths on each side.

And then I stitched along with big nice stitches with thick brown string along the whole piece. This technique probably has a name I'm not familiar with...!
I didn't make many WIP shots, since I basically had no idea what I was doing, and had my mind on high pressure to figure out what to do! I'm not so used to sow out of imagination, but I think it turned out quite well!
Cost me a bit of sweat and blood (no tears though). I took off 3 pieces of clothes while making it (okay, I was sitting in the sun yes) and cut my finger with the scissor while making the button hole!

I was quite lucky to find these pretty pieces of fabric! I really like them!
I don't have a sewing machine with me to Italy, so that's partly why I did it all by hand.

I also found out that the bag fits perfectly for my A4 sketchpad, which I've already used it for twice! :D

Pssst, if you like the sticker on my laptop you can buy one from me for one SBD! Or a selection of 10 assorted stickers for 5! :D

Thank you for stopping by! <3

That turned out very pretty!

Welcome to #NeedleWorkMonday @frejafri!! I was so glad to see your name and then the tag!! Nice! It’s great to have you join us! Your bag turned out so cute and I’m glad it was a good fit. Thank you for sharing the pictures with us, you took some good ones showing us how you started and some of the process along the way. I know it’s not always possible taking pics along the way but we encourage you to if you can.

I commend you for doing this all by hand and for free styling it at that. Most of all I’m glad no tears were shed in the making of this project!! 😅 I hope to see you do more projects and come share them with us!!! I love the fabric you chose too!

If you would like to share your work with the community on days other than Monday, please use the #needlework tag (without the word Monday attached)! Thank you ~

thank you! Yes I think knitting season is soon beginning for me, so I will probably be sharing more in the future! It was so nice to get to sewing a bit :D

Oh my goodness, that came out great!
Love it!

thank you! :D

I love that you did it by hand only, the case looks really nicely finished.

Love this, it's inspirational! I've got plenty of material, as well as needles etc and would like to give something similar a go once I get some 'fat' thread. I've always done my own basic sewing (buttons, tears etc). Btw, dunno if you know that the writing in Hindi in your pic reads "Shri Mahalakshmi" :D

Thank you!
Unfortunately my hindi is not that good, cool that you can read it! But my guess would have been to Lakshmi for the goddess figurine, so I believe you! Thank you for the info!
Was taken in Varanasi a few years ago :)

Yes, I grew up in India and can read Hindi. I've seen your posts re the 32 country trip. I've read one chapter but intend to go back to the beginning. I can see how a large project like this would take time lol.

Congratulations @frejafri! Your post has been placed in the spotlight for this weeks @NeedleWorkMonday Featured Post!
