BEHOLD THE DRAGONFLY

in #nature6 years ago

These are the kind of interruptions that I enjoy!

Yesterday, while working on our second poultry coop, I heard a strange buzzing noise. Always one to investigate, I checked it out with Monster Truck the Pepper and this is what we found.

Eventually, we had to show the whole family, and now, we get to show all of you. Enjoy the photos!

ONE BIG DRAGONFLY

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

Good shots, Mate! Well done...:)...

Great pictures! It is interesting how some insects look so pre-historic. Nature is so beautiful yet so crazy.

Dragonflys are great and eat a LOT of skeeters. You can encourage them by putting stakes around the garden, perches if you will, that they like to hang out on. Were it not for the martins and the dragonflys, we would be trapped inside by the mosquitos most of the summer.

Dragonflies has and always will be one of my favorite insects out there, these photos make me like them even more, amazing shots.

Excellent close up shots, never seen one up close like that! How were you able to get it on your hand? I figured as soon as they saw you two coming it would fly far away!

Love dragonflies but we don't see so many of them any more since the land to the north of us got developed. Loss of habitat.....

I wonder how you got up close without scarring it off. You're truly gifted Papa, the picture itself is absolutely stunning

Thank you very much. I did have to follow it a few times!

(pplease excuse my French) SH!T SON!!!! Those are some EPIC (as my son says) photos @papa-pepper!!!!!! STUNNING!

We have loads of dragonfly's around here as we have a canal running through where we live, and I always get SO sad when I spot one inside our house, because they say that only come inside to die... and to date I have seen that "statement" to be true.... but they are really beautiful creatures!

Really lovely shots Sir.

How's things @papa-pepper? I love this post, not just because the photos are ace but because it reminds me of something that happened to me a few years ago.
Like you I like nature, I used to breed guppies, or mosquito fish as they are known in other places on the planet.
When I got to the point that I needed more tanks I managed to convince the wife to letting me keep 8 fish tanks in the bedroom at the bottom of the bed.
To help the guppy fry have more hiding spaces I invested a little money in some tropical fish plants, I bought them from china and they arrived like 3 weeks later.
I washed the plants in warm tap water to rinse of anything that might have come through the post.
A few weeks after that some of my fish started disappearing from the tank and I could not find no reason for it, I just thought that the fish were eating each other. so I started to move them around more for more tanks space.
Anyway, one morning I was laid in bed with my eyes closed, I could hear a humming noise and as I opened my eyes I was met with some eyes looking right back at me and I wafted my hand and fell out of bed.

It turned out that dragonfly larvae had made it through the post and into my house and it was them that had eaten my fish.

I found 5 dragonflies in total, I had to empty my tanks and move them out side into my shed as the wife didn't want them in the house after that.

Bloody dragonflies ruined my life haha.

happy steeming buddy.
