The Mountain Dragon (Two photos and a Video)

in #nature7 years ago

As the weather warms, the reptiles are becoming more active. Here are a couple of shots of a Mountain Dragon, Rankinia diemensis, taken in my backyard a couple of days ago. Over the years I've built up areas of rocks and logs in order to provide habitat for reptiles. It has paid off as many species have become much more abundant since we first moved here. All up we have found nine species of reptile on the property, three snakes and six lizards.

The photos were taken with a Canon 7D and a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro lens. The video was taken with a Panasonic HC-VX870M.

That is one very handsome dragon! :D

These are beautiful photos of the mountain dragon. The video is awesome. It is really cool that you can attract these types of animals to your back yard.
