The Long Jawed Spider (Four Photos)
This is the Long Jawed Spider Tetragnatha valida. Indeed you can see it's "long Jaws" in the second shot. The body length ranges from 11mm (male) to 14mm (female). I found this one among the foliage of a Coast Wattle (Acacia sophorae). As you can se in the photos, it rests with it front four legs outstretched. At night they build a small orb web.
The photos were taken with a Canon 7D and Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro lens.
