Forester Kangaroos with Joey (Baby Kangaroo)

I took these shots yesterday, at the Narawntapu National Park, here in Tasmania. These Kangaroos are a subspecies of the Eastern Grey Kangaroo that is found on the Australian mainland. The Tasmanian version is known as the Forester Kangaroo. They have longer, thicker hair which no doubt helps in our cooler climate.

What looks like a mowed lawn in these photos is a natural occurrence. Heavy grazing by Kangaroos, Wallabies, Pademelons, and Wombats create what is known as a marsupial lawn.

You'll also notice that the female in the first three shots is carrying a rather large joey (baby) in her pouch.

The photos were taken with a Canon 7D and the Canon EF 400mm f/5.6 L Lens.
