The Grey Fantail
These beautiful little birds are the Grey Fantails, Rhipidura albiscapa. They are often seen engaging in Aerial acrobatics and loop-the-loops in an effort to catch flying insects. One young relative of mine used to cal them flutter birds as they would always be fluttering around above the foliage. They will also chase insects at ground level and run around in a jerky fashion, intermittently fanning out their tail feathers. It's sometimes seems almost impossible to get a shot with their tail fanned out so I was quite pleased with some of these shots.
The photos below were taken with a Canon 7D and the Canon EF 400mm f/5.6 L Lens.
