Praying Mantis
This Praying mantis (or mantid if you prefer) is Tenodera australasiae It is found throughout Australia but mainly in the south east. They measure 80 - 90 mm. It's prey includes insects such as flies and bees. This one was found in my backyard here in Tasmania.

Haha no Problem @mostly.nature! 😄
amazing portrait shot.
am sure there's mantis where I shoot but I have not seen one. I need to know what plants and where it normally hides :)
Thank you. They can be diffucult to find as they are so well camofluaged.
What a gorgeous mantid! I'm up in NSW and we get a lot of green ones. Recently had one in our classroom to observe his behaviour. Released him about a week later.
Terrific photos!
Nick
