All Natural Pain-Relieving Remedies

in #natural6 years ago (edited)

With the laundry list of side effects that come with medications these days I have decided to start looking for alternative natural remedies to help with my ailments. I have found that nature supplies us with everything we need without the terrible side effects! Since I have been trying to do more posts with information to help people to become healthier and since pain killers are a huge problem right now I thought all natural pain relievers would be a good place to start. Here are some plants with natural pain-relieving properties to look out for.

source

Kratom (Mitragyna specios):

Kratom is native to Thailand, but is also grown in warmer climates like California. This medicinal plant, especially the red vein kratom variety, is frequently used to treat severe pain caused by traumatic increase such as broken bones or torn muscles. Its pain-relieving effects are comparable to oxycodone but without the addictive properties and side effects.

source

Wild opium lettuce (Lactuca serriola):

Although this plant is considered to be an invasive weed, it is actually a safe and effective painkiller. It has a milky latex sap, which is scraped or squeezed from the leaves and stalks, that contains pain-relieving properties. It numbs the whole body, relieving muscle and joint inflammation, aches, and pain. The sap can be ingested orally, mixing it with juice or making it into a tea. This plant can also be smoke for a faster effect.

Blue lotus (Nymphaea caerucea):

Despite its name, blue lotus is a type of water lily found in most ponds. It is used to reduce pain, particularly for migraines, severe muscle spasms, tinnitus, and systematic pains like menstrual cramps and body aches and tension. When combined with an alcoholic beverage, it becomes more potent.

Source

Boswellia and Rhus Toxicodendron:

Both Boswellia and Rhus Toxicodendron have been used to treat arthritis and arthritic symptoms. Combining these two herbs makes them even more effective.

White willow bark (Salix alba, S. fragilis, or S. pourpurea):

The compound known as salicin is a well-known general anti-inflammatory remedy that can be compared to aspirin, without the side effects, and salicin can be found in the bark of these willow trees. Willow bark can also be consumed as a tea.

These are just a few of the many options nature gives us to relieve pain

Reasons why drug pain relievers should be avoided

One of the many reasons why you should avoid taking drug pain medications is because they come with dangerous side effects. Unfortunately, over 2.5 billion dollars are spent on nonprescription pain medications every year. The most commonly used types of over-the-counter pain relievers are non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen and naproxen, and acetaminophen.

One of the most common side effects of acetaminophen is its toxicity to the liver. Taking acetaminophen at high doses causes liver damage or failure. Even lower doses of acetaminophen can cause liver damage in people who drink alcohol regularly or those who have a pre-existing liver disease like hepatitis C. Acetaminophen is also often incorporated into other drugs, which increases your risk because you are not exactly aware of how much you are taking.

Taking NSAIDs and aspirin can also damage the stomach lining, which can result in blood loss from the irritated area, stomach pains, and ulcers. Some people using NSAIDs have also reported experiencing kidney problems, while women are more likely to have a miscarriage.

Keep you body healthy. Go All Natural!

Sort:

I take the absolute minimum painkillers, so I don't become tolerant and so I don't suffer liver and other damage. These alternatives will improve my life.

Just when I thought Id seen the last of u, here u are supporting more of my work.. lol, your the best 😉.

Glad to hear u do ur best to not overdue painkillers, those things destroy the body (and mind) in so many ways its scary!

Thanks for dropping by and supporting me still, it is greatly appreciated 😁

Kratom is great as it also helps those who are addicted to prescription pain killers to get off of them. It helps with the pain as well as some withdrawal symptoms.
Kratom does have a small list of side effects that aren't insignificant at higher doses. But overall we find it to be a excellent medicine for pain, but also concentration, energy, and relaxation. It can even be used as a weight loss medicine.

Thanks for sharing this post, I will resteem! I live in the US where thingswith Kratom are pretty ridiculous. FDA now trying to stop shipments into the country and what not. There is a fight for Kratom that I'm sure you are also aware of, if you live in the US :) gots to keep natural medicine alive and keep the govt out of our medicines! Thanks for sharing, this is the first Kratom post I've seen on here strangely enough (I'm pretty new to steemit tho) besides my own first post, which was for support for Kratom. Glad to see someone talking about it here!

Also, I'd love to learn more about that lettuce!

I had heard kratom was good for withdrawal but I never met anyone who actually had tried it so I didn't want to put it in the article. I also live in the US so I totally get what you are saying. Ofcourse the medical industry is fighting Kratom, they don't like it when a all natural, cheap alternative becomes available so they do their best to have it put on a list which makes it illegal.. Its pretty easy for them considering they own politicians because of lobbying.

Kratom sounds interestering. Can you get it in powder and add it to tea?

Kratom is actually one of the more popular and available natural pain relievers. It is illegal in some states and countries but legal for the most bbn part. You can buy it online or find it at various natural shops in big cities.. there are a few different kinds so make sure u get the one to suit ur needs 😉

Damn. Just wanted to try it haha xD

I am always amazed to find what nature provides us. Too bad we have really abandoned the natural medicine path. Hopefully the current resurgence will continue! Thanks for sharing these, new to me!

It is always better to go by nature. There are so many useful plants and herbs that may cure many disesase. @moderndayhippie i would suggest just be part of #naturalmedicine and share the usefulness of all these herbs. We have many useful sharing at this community
