Attention Writers, Dabblers, Authors, and Would-be-Writers!

National Novel Writing Month is almost upon us again!
This year, we are equipped with a brand new tool of motivation and collaboration called STEEMIT!
Let's leverage this platform to help us achieve our goals.

I've mentioned before, how this platform can create Creators and motivate the unmotivated with actual rewards for our work! If this is your first or your fiftieth novel you can come join the fun (and blood sweat and tears) of NaNoWriMo!

This year, I propose we use Steemit to, form a tribe and share our daily writings as we write write write our way to our 50,000 word novels by the end of November!

We'll use the tags #nano to distinguish our daily writing and encourage our fellow writers to work towards our daily goals! Create a personal tag based on the title of your novel as well!

This is a great time to share your writerly advice, tips and strategies for successful story telling too!

Who's with me? Join in the conversation below! Check our our chat channel on Steemit.chat at https://steemit.chat/channel/nano

National Novel Writing Month is an annual creative writing project that takes between November 1st and November 30th. It challenges authors of any skill-level to participate and write a 50,000 word novel before the stroke of midnight on the 30th! You can begin thinking about your story now, but don't write until the 1st!

NaNoWriMo is great, I wholeheartedly endorse this project.

And seriously guys, don't worry about not hitting that 50,000 word mark. The idea here is to write every day, even if it's just couple of hundred words. It's not a competition, and you don't need to be a professional author to participate. In fact, the more support everyone participating in #nano provides to each other, the better it is for all of us!

That's right! Great Attitude! The secret to writing is to.... WRITE! don't think about it too much, don't worry too much, just do it!

I have never heard of this before and actually got a little giddy. I'm gonna need some diapers, coffee, a new keyboard, and a chat lifeline

add handcuffs to that list for me! For those "...but, Daddy, I don't want to write!" temper-tantrum moments.

It challenges authors of any skill-level to participate and write a 50,000 word novel before the stroke of midnight on the 30th!

The challenge is pretty hard and I doubt the specifications are for "any skill-level". It would need to either raise the 30-day limit, or lower the word count.

Let's say 1666 words per day for 30 days.
Let's say there are 4-5 days per month where you can't do it, so you raise the avg up to 2000 words for 25 days.
Now, this needs editing, proofreading, etc, which is extra effort.

Is it doable? I think if you are an expert novelist, pulling a few tricks to increase "easy" word count, yes - without affecting overall quality too much. But is it for everyone / any-skill level? I highly doubt it.

It's hard but doable. Editing and proofreading comes in after the 30 days. The goal is to have fun and write as much as possible. No one fails if they don't reach their word count. Writing any amount is a success, because they managed to get however many words they accomplished out into the world!

this just in... for our steemit team, you set your own goals for the month! This is NANOSTEEMO!!

Wow, I hadn't heard of this before. Will definitely be up for a bit of writing!

Hi @reneenouveau, just stopping back to let you know that you were on of my favourite reads today. You can read what I had to say here

Very interesting initiative. Although i don't think i have the creative 'juices' to pull off a 50, 000 word novel.

What do you feel like you could do? shoot for that! Just write every day, that's the goal!

I've actually never attempted to write a novel...but hey, might be worth a shot!

Great idea. You should make a channel for this in steemit.chat so people can get instant support and mentoring. Let me know, I'd like to join.

So true! I've created one at #nano and will update my post!

Amazing post! I've taken part in NaNoWriMo for the last couple years now and forming a tribe on steemit would be awesome!

Yes! Motivation is always what kills it for me. Having the potential for rewards and a crew at my back (pushing me up that damn hill) will change everything!

I hadn't heard of this concept before reading your post. I have found Steemit to be very useful for getting the creative juices flowing. Trying to write everyday now, and the small, but encouraging rewards help, a lot. So yes, this idea is right up my alley. The chat room idea for this is good too. Looking forward to this challenge.
