Music is a staple in all cultures. In western societies, people tend to identify strictly with the culture that their music represents. Long hair for metal heads, sagging pants for rap, cowboy boots for country, flooding khakis for classical... I think you get the point. In this Vlog I break down why I have so much trouble sharing rap music with my kids. Would you let your 5 year old listen?

Nowadays if a kid has access to the internet, you may not "let" them do something, but they're going to probably do it anyway. Not all rap is "bad", but not all of it is anything close to "good" either, but it is all personal opinion and is highly subjective. shrug. What it really comes down to, you can not "let" your kid do something all day long, it doesn't mean they're not doing it anyway.
For that reason, I don't let my kids access the internet. But they are still pretty young(6yo and 4 yo) so that make it easy. I guess it would be harder to impose on ten year olds.
Lots of people do allow their youngins to get online. They're so smart nowadays! Haha

I wouldn't expose them to it, no. As they get older, of course they are going to have their friends expose them to all different kinds of music. They will likely vibe with something that you might not be comfortable with but I think it makes a big difference if they're 12 versus if they're 5.
