MUSIC BUSINESS 101: What Does An Artiste Actually Sell?
The Music Industry is getting crowded, yet some artistes still make it to the halls of fame. Many up and coming artistes come to me complaining and enquiring to know why they are not pulling weights in the industry.
Through survey, I found out that most if not all of these up and coming artistes don't know exactly what to sell.
Most of them have his wrong notion that what they're putting out in the market is their songs or videos, but what they fail to understand is that they are actually selling their selves.
The true product of an artiste is his/her person. The HD pictures, songs and videos are nothing but marketers of this true product.
Days ago I made an article on the 3 aspects of an artistes brand . These aspects is a breakdown of the true products of an artiste.
In the industry, there is a popular saying "get to the forefront no matter how". An artiste is the product. Selling the artiste is the aim.
To become a star, all emphasis should be on portraying an image suitable of reproducing a cultivate fan base. This can be achieved pending on the location, market, culture, and taste of the market in question.
If the market is properly defined, the songs, videos etc could all be created or designed in a way that it's appealing to the market and gets their their attention towards falling in love with the artiste (the true product).
Once an artiste has sold his true product (his/her self) whatsoever biproduct of his/hers in the form of songs, videos, etc will sell as well and further popularized the 3 aspect of the artistes brand.
This is a new series. I've been an artiste manager for 4 years and I through my personal experience could bet my life on these steps.
Following these steps will produce nothing other than fame.
