I HAVE A MASSIVE DECISION TO MAKE, DO I GO OR NOT.. YOU DECIDE :)

in #music6 years ago (edited)

I wrote a post about my favourite band TAKE THAT just over a week ago.

https://steemit.com/life/@karenb54/my-favourite-band-take-that-been-a-fan-for-30-years-my-last-concert-the-circus

They have just announced they are bringing out a greatest hits CD that will have a few of there greatest hits reimagined plus will have new songs. WELL i had to order it as it has extras plus its a limited edition box set, Its called ODYSSEY this will be my Christmas present to myself for being a good girl all year :p

NOW i love this band as do millions of others but what i don't like is how much they charge to go see them live as a lot of fans just can't afford it and miss out on a fantastic experience. Its probably the arena that sets these prices, but when a band fills a arena surely they could make there seats slightly cheaper giving everyone a chance to see the band.

The prices will start from £65.00 each, I am not saying they aren't worth it as they are, there concerts/shows are amazing. I would love to have a meet and greet but couldn't afford the tickets. Its a dream to meet them especially Mark Owen.
I watch this clip of Mark at a special concert they had when they came back in 2011. It always makes me laugh.

The last concert I went to was THE CIRCUS. here is a clip from youtube,

They put everything into there concerts, there is always something going on, something to watch, its a show that all the family can go see but at £65.00 per ticket a family couldn't afford to go.

Its not just Take That that charge this amount. A lot of big bands charge this much, even though they will pack arenas.

I will have to travel to Middlesbrough from Newcastle, the arena holds 34.000 seats, they will fill this no problem, they have already set 27 dates all in halls as big as the one i am going to.

BUT what do i do, do i go and see them or do i put my good foot down in protest. DECISIONS DECISIONS DECISIONS

Thank you @son-of-satire

If I didn't have the money and its only one ticket going I would of made that money by posting on Steemit, if its the whole family I would of started posting ages ago, if you got the money and you really love the band then I dont see why not go @karenb54 good luck.

We didn't know what was happening, they announced it within weeks. I would need 3 tickets but after thinking about it i am not sure anymore as I can't stand so I will be sitting being shadowed by loads of fans jumping and shouting so wouldn't get to see them :(

@karenb54 You have received a 100% upvote from @intro.bot because this post did not use any bidbots and you have not used bidbots in the last 30 days!

Go, you will only kick yourself for years if you don't.
Do they have wheelchair access?
Borrow a "Go Chair" for the day if you can, here they have an area right up front for the "Wheelies" so you will get the best seat in the house and not strain yourself.

I am still in 2 minds as the tickets could be around £100, i have until next Wednesday to decide :)

You have this new money maker, prespend your prifits and have fun.
Do a post or two about it and get even more.

I don't want to spend anything here at the moment as hating giving nothing for my vote :)

My first thought was, go and the devil be hanged because you would always wonder what could have been. But my sense of resing kicked in. And I had a good hard think on it. The pros and the cons. Since you asked for an honest opinion, here goes.

There is so much to take into consideration here, Karen. First, there is the ticket price. You need to go with someone, so that is two tickets, minimum. Then at that price and depending When you buy them, you will most likely be in the nose-bleed section of the stadium. Not a place to be if you have any kind of disability. Then there are the travel considerations. By train, which would be easier than travel and parking for a car, is roughly 1 hour and twenty minutes plus the return ticket, I think is around £30 return. Then I assume there would be a taxi from the train to the venue. Let's not forget food and drink. I have no idea but I imagine in the stadium is going to be expensive. Oh, and souvenirs. You will need at least one t-shirt.

I think realistically speaking, you are looking at roughly £200 for attending a concert. Another consideration is how your health is on a particular day. If you are like me, we have good days and some not so good. Think about how you feel after going shopping or a dinner out. This is going to be a much longer time. After spending that much on tickets, I would want to make sure I bloody well enjoyed it! And are you going to enjoy the concert with all the screaming fans? If I am going through all that trouble, I want to be able to hear it at least.

I think I am a fair bit older than you, so perhaps I am letting my feelings colour my advice to you. But in my humble opinion, I would take my boxed set, sit back in my comfy recliner, have someone bring me my drink and snacks, turn up the volume on the stereo, sit with my eyes closed and enjoy!

I actually think you are right, i know i will suffer terrible after plus i am unable to stand or dance so watching them will be hard if I'm behind people, i might just wait for the dvd coming out and enjoy it in the comfort of my home with £200 still sitting in my bank :)

You know what? As I look back over my life, one of the things that does not, has never come up is "Damn. I paid too much to see the Rolling Stones" The whole truth is I probably did a couple of times, but I certainly don't think about the price now. I think of Mick ripping Sympathy for the Devil!

Go.

That's so very true, ill have a good think. Its also will i manage with my pain...

I think you should definitely go, especially if it is a dream of yours.

Life is all about making great memories and we have to take these opportunities and don't look back. You might never get the chance again.

Wish you the best with the decision making.

That is true, i have until next Wednesday to decide :)

@ karenb54 you definitely have to go to the concert, do not miss it for nothing. I'm sure you'll enjoy it a lot
I wish you a wonderful weekend

My wife and I still talk about going to see Simon and Garfunkle at one of their reunion concerts many years ago...

It cost a pretty penny, but we are glad we went.

😄😇😄

@creatr

I had a good hard think about it. Decided not to go mainly because with me not being able to stand for looking I'll be spending most my time sitting down watching people around me and not the band. I'll wait for the dvd 😁😁
