STEEM & FRIENDSHIPS: The "Hidden" Factor For Success On This Social Media

Look at this Picture from SteemFest 1. Can you spot people that have become longterm friends here? Can you spot whales?

Real friendships are not affected by steem prices or market value or post payout. They are built by making "emotional connections".
I was ruminating on this quote and the potential meanings it holds. As the steem prices dropped recently, the activity of steemians has dropped as well.
Many people have abandoned their blogs. Many have left their favourite bloggers without commenting for a while now. What about friendships? Should it drop too?
I have come to understand that alot of people associate friendship with Steem power. Or friendship with upvote value. Or friendship with whats-init-for-me? kind of mentality.
So you will notice some people only being your "friends" when they think you have something to offer and then backing out as soon as they get a "better deal". Life & steemit doesn't work that way.
Allow your friendships to grow. This platform is for the long haul. People are going to be millionaires & billionaires here. Every friend you make now on this platform is a great potential for the nearest future. Don't joke with that.
I'm happy with the good people I have met so far. They are just so many with very good potentials. I don't ignore them or back-down. I try to keep everyone on the path of success because tomorrow we will all be whales.
It will be a thing of joy when we all succeed together. The biggest mistake some people make is thinking that the Steem blockchain is a contest. Nope! Its not. We are all running a race. Not against each other but against our own selves.
We are all running in the same direction. SO I can as well help you reach your target and you help me reach mine. Success is enough for all.

This is exactly why you may see some top steemians voting each other and you may say they are circle-jerking. Nope! If you check their history you will see how far they have all come. They actually started from the very bottom together. Dont hate on them.
Find & form your own formidable relationships that can stand the test of time for the long-term. Don't follow people or comment on people's blogs or pm people because of what you think you can get. Make long-term real friends for a lifetime.

The biggest challenge most minnows have is that they want to become whales in a shorter time forgetting the most important ingredient... Making solid friendships first...
This to me is like bondage. Lolz..
But thank God I got my freedom from this mindset.
Right now I'm just so grateful for the amazing friends I have on steemit. No day goes by that they don't make me smile and even forget about my worries..

This is so true. A lot of people haven't discovered that steemit is also social media. The only difference is that it rewards you for posting among other things.
Interacting as well as building relationships are important for growth and success within and outside this platform.
I'll site an example, I happened to develop a rapport with someone on this platform, at the moment, she has nothing to offer me in terms of Upvoted because she is just a couple of weeks in. The interesting thing about our relationship is that she was able to offer solutions to issues I had been struggling with.
It's important that we value relationships.

You totally nailed this sir. This is not in anyway a contest. Every man will run his race, and we will all become whales one day, with consistency. Time might differ, but we will get there. Thank you for this amazing post. Making friendship has been key for me. I have lost count on the number of people i have come in contact with, and it has nothing to do with their wallet or steem power. I am a whale on the inside, and it will soon manifest on the outside.
