The War between the Artist and the Capitalist

The War between the Artist
And the Capitalist

There’s a constant war in each and every one of us, a war between the artist and the capitalist, between the man that just wants to create, to be happy to spend quality time with the loved ones and the man that wants the money, the luxury, the parties, booze, drugs and sex.

Some days the artist wins, you’re just creating art, having fun and other times the capitalist when you’re thinking about new ways of making money and improving your lifestyle.

You shouldn’t just follow the green paper no matter what, or you may become like the 2008 bankers or the governments and not care at all how you’re producing money, not caring at all if you’re ripping people off if you’re destroying lives or even killing people.

Which one is better?

Being only the artist is better but still not perfect. You can create a lot if no other thoughts are crossing your mind but at what price? The most significant painters in the world had no social life, and they were just creating and creating art full time, some of them were not evening just so they can work more and some of them even died because of their devotement, but if they were happy that’s cool for me.

The war is real for me too; sometimes I don’t even want to leave the house, I just want to write, to edit, to watch great movies that inspire me and to listen to amazing music. Other times I’m just thinking of ways to make more money, I’m just learning to trade and watching to self-developing seminars, but there’s usually a balance.

The ideal should be a balance between the artist and the capitalist, a balance between creating and making money, you should create and sell at the same time, and Steemit is a great way to do that.

You can live your life with really few money and to create the full time, to expand your consciousness and have new life experiences and also you could live your life like a robot that only produces money, but the best way is to create and to live a decent life still while you’re doing that.

Conclusion

You may think that you don’t have that artistic side in yourself, I used to think the same a few months ago. After I joined Steemit, I started to create, to write, to photograph and to edit quite a lot, and I discovered that I’m decent at some things and that I enjoy doing them. You also should experiment as many things as possible; you may find something that you like. You don’t have to be the best right off the bat, you just have to enjoy what you’re doing, and you’ll get better with time.

Also, you may think that money is evil, and they are destroying people, but until the system changes you need money. Money is beautiful since they can give you a lot of freedoms, it can expand your possibilities of creating art and experimenting life.

Sometimes the artist takes over, and other times the capitalist does but keep in mind that you need both, that you should have both in your life.

The battle is real but everything comes at price :) I find myself reading numerous book ,being a blockchain flaneur and the gig resulting in zero social life ( by this I meant, I lost in touch with my so-called toxic friends).

It's also sometimes we need to be reminded to be somewhat capitalist but the idea disgusts me. However, we couldn't deny we need the green paper to help and contribute more to the society. There's recently a good catchy phrase I read: good intentions doesn't pay bills :D nor only good intentions without an action will truly help someone.

I'm doing so many things lately too, experimenting from so many fields like trading, programming, photography, and writing, none of them is related to the other, and this is making it exciting.

You can't help others if you don't help yourself first ;)

Really great work!

I try not to frame it as capitalist though, to me it's about the ability to receive vs. the ability to give and I'm all about both. Both are part of everything and everything is art! :-)

Thank you. I really like how you said that, I may or may not steal it ;)

Most days it is a coin flip. It would be easier if I didn't need the money and could just do what I wanted.

Anybody else have that dream? :)

Feel that, it would be a lot easier. Maybe in the future, who knows?

I tagged a friend in your November 5th post on the riot. I cannot believe I missed that. Start posting BIGGER so I don't miss it! Thank you in advance. LOL

Haha, how big it would be good? :)))

Hey! Don't judge. Just give me a nudge. :) LOL

Don't mind if I do, lol :))

Of course, I want to offer all my work free of charge, but if I did that I'd be forced to choose between living on the streets (again) or working a job that I hate (again). Hopefully I can make enough people want to support a pay-what-you-want model that doesn't contradict with a gift economy. X-D

It's rare that achieving an optimal balance is possible, know any examples? Either you devote yourself to creating or acquiring the most possessions possible. It's often the case one is sacrificed at the expense of other at least to a degree, even if you do both. The best artists might of made some money, but not as much as the sub-par artists who focused more on the business side of things.

Agreed, a total balance sounds kind of hard if not impossible but as close to perfection as possible would be my goal. Money is great as long as they are not your whole life purpose. ;)

This is a great post! I definitely think I have both side pull me at times, I mean we are human right? Unfortunately with the need to pay for things we use, consuming, live in, we have to have or need to have those needs taken care of by monetary means. I think as long as it isn't the strongest focus then it really won't pull too much away from creating.

I can also attest to the whole not really thinking you were creative until joining steemit thing. I have been craving for creativity and had no clue where to look for the most part and since having joined here I have been feeling so awesome and dabbling in so much and even refining and recapturing some different loves of things that make me feel so whole. Love this post.

Thank you. Wouldn't it be great if we could live only on air and maybe coffee?

I wasn't even thinking that much about creating before joining Steemit, but the monetary possibility made me push myself and try to create something, and now I am mostly doing it because I love to. The amazing responses I get sometimes are filling my heart more than a whale upvote. :)

Also, I have always seen you online on #thealliance; you have no life? Just Kidding :)). I'll try to be more active there after I fix my laptop.

I think one does not exclude the other, if they come together than you hit the jackpot.
A direct example might be Adrian Ghenie, who understood it and acts according.

Money is not evil, the ones who say this usualy don't have it. Money helps reaching your targets and gets the life you deserve.

I just checked him out; his paintings are inspiring.

I just see money as a vehicle, it can get me where I want, and as you said, it can get me the life I desire.

The same see I, the more money I have, the faster I get ;)

Life is all about balance everywhere we look.

Freedom is awesome and part of the reason why I use steemit in hopes it will allow me to have the financial freedom I'm hoping for.

I just hope that I don't become too greedy so that financial freedom will never become obtainable.

Financial freedom is my goal too. The journey ahead of us is going to be amazing, just hold on.
Also, I'm glad to work with you; I bet we are going to have a lot of a great time in the future. :)

For sure! I'm glad to be apart of the team as well. Seems like a lot of fun so far and it's been a lot harder than I imagined, but know it will get easier with time spotting great gems.

It's an enjoyable place; indeed, I love the community. I don't know what to say about getting easier; it seems as more people joined and are posting shit is harder to find great posts.

It was easier a few months ago when the spamming was less.

Yeah, I find a lot of good articles whose authors have been nominated already!

Great read! Money itself is not evil, it's the love of it that is. If we worship money, then everything else suffers. I understand that inward battle, oh, too well!!

Thank you. It's easy to pick any side since both of them feel amazing in their own way but to find the balance can be pretty challenging, I'm still figuring it out.

Well, there are many who fight in us, not only the artistic and and money-related. In my opinion, is too much to name artist or capitalist on many people, as they even don't know what it is. Too many are driven only by instincts ... they need food and fun, they need money. The battle you are talking about is specific to certain minority categories. Your conclusion is good, happy will be those who can balance between.

I get what you mean but I think that most of the people have at least the potential to become artists and capitalists no matter what they are now.

The future is looking pretty bright, I can't wait for mass adoption.

You have right, the potential exist, you know what it says..."every Romanian is poet!" now wait to change "poet" in "entrepreneur".

Wow nice info and picuter shearing thank you pelese halp mevote bro
