The Big 500 Follower Milestone....Is That Good?
Yes, I know I am almost to 550 followers and I am sure all of you went to check my profile right away. I intended to write this a week or so ago but simply never found the time. With that being said, let's dive in!
First and foremost, I am super excited to have over 500 followers. I am especially thankful for those of you who actually look at and read my blog. I wanted to include how many 'dead followers' I have, but unfortunately the site is not working and @mynameisbrian does not have plans on fixing it any time soon. Dead followers are important for a couple reasons. I can have 1,000 followers, but if 900 of them are dead, I really have 100 followers. A dead follower is someone who does not post or upvote anything within the past month, so basically useless.
We're not here to focus on my dead followers though, however many there may be. I want to focus on the few of you who actually read my posts, upvote, and interact with me. I always try to upvote and reply to anyone who leaves a genuine comment. My goal is to spread the joy and show you guys that I truly appreciate what you're doing. So a huge thank you to my real followers - I do notice you, and I will continue doing my best to support you as well.
So is 500 followers good?
For me, easy answer is no, not at all. Sure, it's nice to have, but I've broke 50 upvotes one time, and that was because of voting bots. It's not hard to figure out that most of my followers don't give a shit what I post. Steemit is all about the connections you have. You have to either be friends with a dolphin/whale or get lucky they see your post. It's all about the circle jerk of friends you can create so everyone makes money. I've seen people do a shit post and upvote themselves to $2, while others can do a post and get a $200 vote from one of their buds. So no, 500 followers doesn't mean shit. Until you get into that buddy group or are buddies with a whale who doesn't care what you post, it doesn't matter who follows you.
Conclusion
I realize that last part kind of just turned into a rant and was a little aggressive, that wasn't my initial intentions. Once again, I thank all of you who actually read my posts, upvote, and comment. I will continue to support you as we gain more followers and steem together!

I don't spend much time worrying about 'dead followers.' The time it took to sort through them just didn't seem to add much value to me, so I skip it. I do, however, feel some small amount of annoyance with those that follow and then soon unfollow. lol I find it a bit rude...

Yea I definitely don't either, I just find it interesting to know how many of the followers are actually active. There's so many accounts that follow 10,000 people or just disappear. Haha absolutely, especially when they follow, I haven't even posted anything and they unfollow a day or two later. I get notifications on that asshole!

Ahh I do love some blackjack! But yea, absolutely. All about making connections with people, find people you like and consistently upvote/comment and then they're more likely to follow back/check out your blog. At least that's the way I do it, I want to support those who support me.
