Meetup #2 - Durian + Bak Ku Teh Combo Day
What is Durian?
According to @zord189, it's an exploding angry coconut 😂 when he explained it out to his community or friends that didn't know of it. Durian is known as "King of All Fruits" in South East Asia because of the super strong smell (some people like it and some don't) and super creamy yellow flesh inside the thorny shell of it (You have to work your way in to get the treasure 😉). Majority of the hotel in Malaysia usually don't allow the customers to bring it into the hotel as the smell of Durian will linger around for quite some time.
This is known as "Butter" durian
There're many lots of durians with different sizes, taste (sweet, bitter-sweet, creamy or bitter), name (species) out there on the market nowadays. Some common name of the durians are D24, XO, and Musang King, while the uncommon name that I encountered yesterday was Majerine, Butter, Jantung (Heart), Dato Nina (WTF? 🤣) and so on.
We didn't manage to go Sey Heng Stall in Subang Jaya for durian as they were selling mandarin orange due to upcoming Chinese New Year, so we went to Sinnaco Durian Specialist instead in PJ Section 19. It was super heavy downpour while on the way, and I was lucky not to be caught in a flash flood.
This shop is just located at the corner
Taking wefie with @zord189 and @joannewong,
before getting our finger into the flesh
Top: Jantung (Sweet taste and a missing piece spotted!),
Bottom: XO (Bitter-sweet, creamy)
What is Bak Ku Teh?
Bak Ku Teh (肉骨茶) or in the simplest English form, "Pork, Bone, Tea" is a famous Malaysia dishes served within the Chinese community. It's a mixture of meats (different parts of pork), the soup based (a complex mixture of herbs and spices) that is cooked for hours to get that perfect taste and if you're a non-Muslim (as this is non-halal for them due to religion), you must try it out when you had the chance to visit Malaysia or Singapore.
We meet up with @calebleejl at Yu Kee Bak Ku Teh in Subang Jaya SS14 (not to mistaken with the Yu Kee in Kota Kinabalu, as the English name is same but Chinese name is different - 有记 and 佑记) after our Durian session. As many will encourage not to have Bak Kut Teh and Durian at the same time because both of them are pretty heaty food to the body, but once in a while is okay 😉 and with chilly evening after the heavy downpour, making it a perfect dinner for us. (Too bad, @kokuryo can't make it with us)
Our dinner has been served in the form of soup Bak Kut Teh, dry Bak Kut Teh, some youtiao (油條) and special oil rice
BTS - Camera eat first for content before hoooman does
Don't forget about wefie, @calebleejl, @zord189, @joannewong and me
Through our conversation over the dinner, I found out @calebleejl is also a Sabahan as I'm and @zord189 a Sarawakian himself. What a small world, as we all East Malaysian meeting up here in West Malaysia eating Bak Kut Teh together. We exchanged a lot of knowledge of crypto, steemit, projects, community and the future of having Bak Kut Teh together at Steem Island 😆, full of possibilities with Steemit and can't wait for it to be implemented in our daily life.
We have our talk until 10.00PM as the restaurant is closing and continue our talk just outside standing until 11.00PM and if tomorrow (01/02/2018) were to be Public Holiday for Malaysia (sadly is only for KL, Federal Territory Day) we would have find another mamak and continue our talk.
Why Steemit?
Unlike other social media platform out there, you can actually earn some reward by creating good quality contents, comments, and community projects in Steemit!
What's the Cost?
You do not need any initial capital or money during the entire process. Just sign up for an account and voila~, you're on your way to earn some STEEM yourself.

It seems like you had a great day spent in good company. Shoutout to my good friend @calebleejl. Creating amazing friendships and relationships is the key to success on Steemit. And, it seems like you got that covered my friend. :)
Thank you for sharing. Have an amazing day. :)
I don't think it tastes similar to any other fruits out there, come by Malaysia if you had the chance.
