It was a serene morning. The sun was barely peeking over the mountain tops and the water was calmly flowing under the wooden bridge. There was thick mist swirling around in the slight breeze, resisting the early sun rays. There were two figures, dressed in dark and barely visible, talking in hushed tones at one end of the bridge.

'I'm just saying, you could have been nicer, it was an informant from our own group.' Said one while the other tsked 'Mirr, you are naïve, he was as likely to stab you as he was willing to sell the information. In this line of business you can't aford to trust and you know it.'
At this point Mirr became indignant, he started shaking his fist at his partner, trying hard not to raise his voice 'This is why you don't have any friends Tor. You secretly hate everyone. I trust every single person from our group. ' he gave a bitter smile to Tor 'How do you go on missions if all you do is watch your back?'

Tor sighed at his inexperienced and young partner 'You barely started Mirr, but I assure you, people come and go in this group as autumn leaves in the wind. They usually take a life or two with them and that's why you never heard us openly arguing. Death.'
His golden eye followed the road while he sighed again 'I have no idea why you insist on this, there is no honor among thieves as there is none among assassin's. You are too soft.'

Mirr frowned and looked away from Tor, secretly fuming for a while before he steeled himself 'I've heard stories about you, you know? Who are you to mock me when at one point you were as bad as me?'

The older one rolled his eyes 'I have always had the skill to look after myself. I thought I could afford to trust at least a little if I did all my missions alone.' Tor pointed to a long scar running down his face and through his closed, unseeing eye. 'Look hard where that got me.'

Before Mirr could respond they both noticed a figure getting closer to them. They widened their stances and put one hand on the handles of their swords.

'A lone figure approaches the doors at the dark temple.' Upon hearing this Mirr visibly relaxed and waved to the person who was now almost completely visible to them. He was also carrying a sword but instead of black garbs he was wearing dark green. He stopped in front of them 'You are to report to me and give me what you were asked to bring.'

Tor narrowed his eyes at the newcomer. Mirr, unaware of the tension in his partner, reached in his sash to bring out a pouch. He was about to give it away when Tor snapped. He brought out his sword and slashed the third man's throat. Blood gurgled out of his throat while the man uselessly tried to hold it in. He fell to his knees, struggling.
It happened so fast Mirr could only watch in horror 'Are you out of your mind?!' He tried to help the man but he was already laying on the floor lost to the world.

Mirr gripped his sword and turned on Tor 'That was our companion, you'll pay for this.' Tor didn't pay him any heed as he kneeled on the floor next to his victim and pulled something from behind the bloodied jacket. He held the item triumphantly in the air as he stood back up. 'You blabber on and on about trust but you can't even trust in my skill as an assassin. He was undercover.' He shoved the intricate badge he was holding in Mirr's hand and went to lean his back against the bridge.

Mirr held onto the badge, humbled. He too leaned against the bridge next to Tor and rather than comment he observed the dead body while the mist cleared away and the sun finally came through.
