Durian for #MarketFriday
Hello #MarketFriday Lovers,
For this week, because I am here at Davao City, the hometown of durian, I will share with you our first durian indulgence in our week-long trip.
This will just be a short post since I am currently on travel.
But before that, I'd like to spread LOVE for everyone.
We stopped in a small fruit stall in the outskirt of the city where we saw plenty of durian. Stalls outside the city are mostly less expensive than those that are in the city proper. Usually it's because vendors sell their own produce. So they sell it cheaper than the others.
And our hypothesis proved true. The durian only costs P20 ($0.40) a kilo! Can you believe that? So we have all the reason to devour durian to our heart's content.
We finished quite a lot, actually plenty.
As if not enough, we also indulge over marang fruit. Marang is an exotic oblong-shaped fruit with soft spine. And it is super sweet as it can be.
Our little one enjoyed it as much as we do.
We also bought with us some rambutan, mangosteen and lansones--all native to Davao's rich soil.
This has been our fruit feast for #MarketFriday, by the generous and kind Denise (@dswigle).
Thank you for feasting with me,
Ging
I love seeing different foods from around the world @gingbabida! Thank you so much for sharing your experience, and thank you to @fitinfunfood for selecting your post in her Pay it Forward Curation Contest (@pifc) entry :)
Aw, thank you. I count it as a privilege to share our durian indulgence experience to everyone. 😁
I have also thanked @fitinfunfood for mentioning me. It was such an honor! I have never expected it.
Thank you so much for dropping by @lynncoyle1. I deeply appreciate it. 😊
Have a beautiful day ahead. 😊😊
You're very welcome 😊
You are welcome, @lynncoyle1. I am so happy to put this post in the spotlight, and glad you like it too :)
I am in Malaysia, and you definitely have a great price. We are in the season too, and durian is much more expensive than that here. Love the photo of your little one!
Hello Sharon! Yes, we found a very good deal. But now, the prices here in the city are much more expensive. Most are doubled, as expected. But it's still relatively cheap. 😊
When I was in Cambodia the fruit sellers were all along the roads. I think I should have stopped!
Hahaha! Yes, maybe. 😊

What can i say i had to be the gentleman that i am and let the ladies go first..haha..congratulation that got you more motivated and i do love all them fruits we have all of them here in Thailand the Durian has always been one of my favorite fruits but for some reason the past couple of years the price of Durian has gone really crazy over here like a small piece maybe 300 grams with cost you about $6 US or more i can buy 6 kilos of Mangosteen instead :)
Oh dear! That's tooooo expensive! But the one we had yesterday was the cheapest we have encountered so far. This month and next are the durian season, so this is the cheapest we can get. Other months are (more) expensive. Sometimes it's even impractical to buy. Hehehe! 😁
Thank you for being the gentleman that you are my friend. 🤣
Have a beautiful day.
The good thing in Thailand like over there you have many other choices of fruits so i wouldn't pay such a ridiculous price.
And thank you your welcome have a great weekend to you and family :)
Yes, there are so many fruits to choose from. So if any other fruit is expensive because its out of season, then buy fruits that are in season! That way, we can save and enjoy! 😊
Yep this is so right there are always options :)
Yes that's true. Hope your day is great. 😊
Durian are such unusual looking fruit and I have to say, I have not tried them yet @gingbabida I love the heart shaped arrangement you made with the pink ones. Very clever.
Haha! Yes, it's an unusual fruit. It's even controversial because of its stinky smell. Some people doesn't like it but it is called the "king of fruits" in Southeast Asia due to its rich and heavy flavor.
Thank you, it's rambutan fruit shaped into heart. 💕

Yes, I think durian is a tropical fruit. It's native here in Southeast Asia. Thank you for dropping by. 😊

Hahaha! 😊 This fruit is the initiation for foreigners! Durian has a very strong, stinky smell. But the fruit is sooo creamy and sweet like an ice cream. If you happen to visit Southeast Asia, you have to try this out.
Where are you from, if you don't mind? 😊

Oh, yes!!! I love the Durian in the shape of a heart! How sweet!!! I am so glad that you were able to get so many! That sure was an amazing price! I don't think I have ever heard of them that cheap!
You corned the market on the sweet treats and the little one looks like he is enjoying it too!!!
Thanks for bringing me a #MarketFriday post despite your travels!!! Great job!!!

Yes, cravings satisfied! I have been craving for durian for weeks and I have to control myself, knowing that it would be a lot, lot cheaper here in Davao. We were right! We got a good deal. They can be this cheap now that it's season, but if it is off season, prices are GOLD! 😂😂
Glad to be able to contribute to #MarketFriday, even if it is just short.
May you have a beautiful day ahead. 😍
It was perfect!!!! Thank you so much for taking the time off your vacation!!!
Have fun!!!
