Day Lily

This is another one of my macro photography experiments. This is a macro of a day lily.

For this photo I used a 85 mm prime lens attached to a 49 mm extension tube. Focus is achieved by moving the whole camera close to the subject. There's a pretty shallow depth of field, so what you get is pretty much hit or miss. If you are interested in my setup and would like an inexpensive way to take some macros yourself, have a look at Take Macro Photographs on a Budget.

Category macrophotography
Settings f/5.6 1/60 sec 85.0 mm+ 49.0 mm ISO 800
Camera Canon 60D
Lens Rokinon 85mm f/1.4 Aspherical IF
Location Lee, New Hampshire

Those colours are stunning :D I do a bit of Macro photography on budget too, this is a pretty sweet shot with an extension tube.
Nice and congrats on the rally from #steemitbloggers too

Thank you for your comments! I used a monopod for this one. It seemed to help keep things more stable.

I'd say this was definitely a successful experiment! Gorgeous capture, Roger!

Thanks Traci! I used my monopod for this one. I've had it for years, but it's only the second time that I've used it.

You should definitely use it a third time then - LOL! Great result!

And congrats on the rally upvote from #steemitbloggers!

Very awesome image. I like a good macro. Im not great at them. My hubby is much better macro taker.

I used a monopod for this one. It helped keep things a little more stable. Thank you for your comments!

@rwedegis Smart idea we have two of those, I should pull it out this spring, may get a good one. :D Thanks for the reminder.

They're a lot easier than lugging around a tripod.

@rwedegis Oh, lol, we have two tripods whats the other one? How is it different?

Thank you for your comments!

So beautiful Roger! I'd say the experiment worked well :)

Thank you for your comments Lynn! Macros are fun, but I do get many more goofs than I do keepers!

Up close and personal, be sure not to get pollen on the lens, sticky cleanup sometimes @rwedegis
