Tiny Leafhopper

in #macrophotography6 years ago (edited)

This tiny greenish yellow bug is a Leafhopper, a member of the Cicadellidae family. Note the bristly like spines on the rear legs that are common on Leafhoppers. Like all True bugs (Order Hemiptera) they have sucking mouth parts. In this case they use these to suck sap from plants. I don't know which plant this particular species favours as it was was found at night visiting my moth light.

All of the photos were taken with a Canon 7D and Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro lens.
