Sustainably Living - Reusing or Upcycling

Bob Marley once wrote about a Concrete Jungle, fast forward 30 years and its a Plastic Jungle! Recycling, Reusing and Upcycling is so important to make a dent in the waste we produce.

The concept of these contests is awesome, really made me think about what I could use today to write this. I decided between a collaboration of items the last few days and life in general.

Clothes I wear it till its hole filled and really unsuitable for use. I have been known to wear cardboard in my shoes with a hole before buying new ones! I must add only the one pair and indoor use only- They were very comfy!

2 days ago I was doing some DIY Seen Here and I reused an old spray bottle from some already eco -friendly cleaner to use for a Apple Cider Vinegar Mix to clean my tiles.

My second is using the inside of toilet rolls tubes for potting seeds for the garden this year. I am doing a separate post on this this evening. But here is some evidence.

The inside of Toilet Roll/ Kitchen Roll can also be used to be make Cat Toys! You simply cut 4 x 1cm slices of the end and fit them all into each other to make a ball = D

Good idea, thank's

I am absolutely stealing the “toilet paper roll as seedling pots” idea! Thanks for posting that!!

Fantastic on my latest post it explains how to fold them in etc

I'll comment the link here when its up wont be long!

Recycling is very important. Good post to draw attention to it.

Thank you! I agree, I really should try to re-use more!

I love saving cardboard toilet roll tubes for spinning yarn. When I teach others, I show them how to wind their yarn onto cardboard tubes before plying. Especially for beginners, its a great alternative to making or buying fancy tools. I can't wait to see your post on planting seeds!

Oh wow, I never thought of that!

I received some Hard Carders as a gift and have a fleece waiting to be washed in the warmer weather ready to start making my own yarn for the first time. A neighbour has a spinning wheel too!

That is a great help and idea!

I have just posted my plans for my 2018 Container Vegetable Garden and will be doing a seed post later on tonight/tomorrow!

Ooooh, congratulations! What type of fleece? I do a live stream where I teach spinning and answer questions. You are most welcome to drop by any time:

That's really cool, I will do. It's from a Badger Sheep that's all I know about its original owner Baa Baa!!

Thank You

Badger Face Welsh Mountain, maybe? If so, you've got a very interesting first fleece.

Yes thats them. My work colleague raises them quite a rare breed I think.

Interesting good or interesting bad ha ha! I like a challange!

It is a good, medium coarse wool and may contain a bit of kemp. It may be a bit of a challenge. It may feel like its got some grab and then the fibers will slide right past each other. Great for outerwear.

Thank you! So informative I think I will be in contact when I get around to doing this in spring =D

Oh yes! I have done this too... when I ran out of peat pods last year, I grabbed a few empty rolls and used them. They were GREAT!

First time using them this year so fingers crossed they dont go too soggy but thats user error more than the tubes fault ha ha!

I did it for some cucumbers and they were great. Just be careful of over-watering

Ohh cucumbers! My Mum always does well with hers. I am yet to try them. Glad they worked out well for you.
