Jurgen Klopp rules out new signings during January transfer window.

All year round the media constantly make up stories linking the top football clubs with multi-million-pound moves for players, especially clubs like Liverpool with such a massive fan base. These stories seem to become even more frequent around this time of year with the winter transfer window fast approaching. But when Jurgen Klopp was asked about one such story linking Liverpool with a big money deal for Barca's Ousmane Dembélé he was quick to shut the story down and went on to say he wasn't looking at bringing anybody in during the transfer window.

The Liverpool manager stated he was happy with his current squad and felt there was ample cover for each position, sometimes multiple times over, and was no need for him to bring anybody else in. You can certainly see where he is coming from as his team currently sit 2nd in the table, undefeated and just 2 points behind Manchester City. On paper, it looks like a dream situation and possibly beyond where he would have expected to be at this stage when the season started. In the summer window, Liverpool went big and made 4 significant additions to their squad bringing in Alisson, Fabinho, Keita and Shaqiri. As a result, Liverpool were viewed as genuine title challengers by most people and while their league position and results may live up the expectations the performances haven't necessarily cut it and there are concerns whether they can continue to keep pace with Manchester City without raising their game for the remainder of the season.

The attacking force at Liverpool has been under the spotlight all season as they have failed to fire in the goals and the comments from Klopp dismissing moves for any new recruits will raise eyebrows of some fans who hoped to see a revival of Liverpool's move for Nabil Fekir which broke down in the summer due to complications regarding his medical history. As brilliant as I believe Liverpool's current midfielders to be they are all very similar and bring the same kind of qualities, they all work extremely hard, put opponents under pressure and are great at helping out and covering for the full-backs as they get forward. But none of them besides Oxlade Chamberlain, who it looks like will be out for the entire season really offers a world-class creative ability to link up with the forwards. Fekir would certainly add that and I believe would greatly improve Liverpool's performances back up to the level where they were blowing teams away and greatly improve their title chances.

While I have not actually seen many media links suggesting Liverpool will go back for Fekir it is something I would not completely write off after a summer move for Van Dijk broke down and was then completed in the following window leaves hope for something similar to happen again. I definitely think that it is more likely to happen than moves for Dembélé, Pulisic or Rabiot that have been reported by various media over the past few days. But after listening to Klopp it seems like this transfer window will be a quiet one for Liverpool with any deals most likely being players such as Clyne, Solanke, Origi and Markovic who have hardly been involved leaving Anfield.
