The social laziness

in #life6 years ago (edited)

Living in this society as an adult, collective life and learning are essential.

Many times, we are slowly losing ourselves, forget why we started, gradually rely on others, no longer make any progress.

All of us more or less had this experience:

In group competition, we are always full of confidence and morale in the beginning, but slowly, sometimes we have the mentality of wanted to escape and rely on others.

Always think that "There are others will do, don’t need me to worry about it", "Anyway, no one will acknowledge what I’ve done, it is better for me not to do anything", such "lazy" mentality.

Max Ringelmann once did an experiment in which he asked people involved in the experiment to do tug of war in individual and in a group. At the same time, he will measure their pull with instruments. The results showed that the average force of each test was reduced as the number of participants increased.

When a person pulls an average of 63 kilograms of output, three people pull the average output is 53.5 kilograms, eight people pull the average output is 31 kilograms.

This is "social laziness", what you do in a group is far less than you can do alone at maximum.

Because of dependence, human nature is greatly stimulated by the effort not to be recognized, to be more natural, to enjoy comfort and unwilling to work hard.

Therefore, we are more and more difficult to improve.

"Social laziness" is a swamp that many people can easily fall into, and we want to make progress, we have to get around it or crawl out of the swamp.

1. Break away from the group by doing the thing that doesn’t require group

For example, when you take part in a group game, do the thing first that you can do yourself.

In fact, the group competition is mainly dependent on the discussion of the group, in addition to all the activities can be done by arranging task for each member of the group.

So, if you want to make progress, you need to have a good grasp of what you’ve been assigned to and don't rely on your group members too much.

The most important step in trying to get rid of the "social laziness" is to let your heart walk away from the group and be independent.

You are an independent individual, you need to have your own independent thinking, need to have the consciousness of thinking for your future at any time.

Things that you can do things independently, do it first, don't rely on others. Otherwise, everyone will just look at each other.

This is the first step to achieve independent thinking.

2. Write down what you do every day and progress

Sometimes the "social laziness" arises out of the fact that one's efforts are not seen or recognized.

Then, if others don't see your efforts, then you need to let yourself see it first.

After the day is over, write down the things that you made progress and record your progress.

And also, you must not be moved by yourself!

Most of the time, people can't make progress and stay in the same place because they think that they have no problems, then when they notice the problem, they were moved by the fake efforts.

Don’t think that only efforts are enough, you have to make progress, the progress doesn't require to be visible to the naked eye, but must be improved bit by bit.

But before that, you have to go through a process of seeing your own efforts.

Seeing your efforts and progress, so that you will have the impetus to continue to move forward, rather than abandon yourself when the results are not recognized by others.

3. Have a goal, don’t be slack

You have to set a goal for your future, both long-term and short-term.

In the group, it is really easy to create a sense of dependency. People with no goal will lose themselves under the control of this sense of dependence, they won’t even try and completely indulge.

So, the goal is really important.

The goal is the direction of a person moving forward, is the mission, is the driving force of the ceaseless struggle.

When you find yourself beginning to sink into the "social laziness" of collective life, think about your goals and see how far you are from it, and what you need to do to reach that goal.

When you are about to step into the swamp of "social laziness", your goal will pull you back, help you see the reality, timely awakening and make efforts.

4. Control yourself

It's not enough to have a goal, you have to be able to control yourself.

Comfortable life without effort will greatly stimulate the human nature of the "lazy", the mentally unstable people can easily forget why they started and their goals, and immersed in this seemingly comfortable but actually deadly swamp.

So, you have to control yourself. The road to success, there will always be a variety of temptations appear at your side at any time.

You must be able to resist these temptations, not to be eroded by them, and to move steadfastly towards your goals.

Do not run away from setbacks, do not respond to temptation, you will be just fine.

In fact, the road to success is not easy, but there are also less excellent people, you just need to know what you are doing, just need to pay a little more efforts than others, everyday progress more than others, better than ordinary people, is enough.
