DtubeSnapPlus#8: Update - What's been up? I need encouragement to stick it out!🙏🏻🤝
Hey Dtube!
Just an update to let everyone know what's been happening the last two weeks and how things have changed and why.
I want to keep running the race and persevering but I need all your help so I can keep uploading worthy-to-watch videos!
I want to know what people have liked of what I've uploaded?
I have so much footage to edit haha I've been recording every day but not been able to edit and upload them yet because I've been experiencing some technical issues with my iphone and icloud it means I can't do what I usually do and access all my files properly..
As of now some of the footage I've done recently has an "!" circle around it and others I have to wait to download back to the phone. But ever since I've deselected the "optimisation" option it has meant I can access my recent videos again. But the other problem is that I'm running out of space on my phone too hahah I've been recording so much since starting dtube 😊
So in the last two weeks icloud uploading automatically has meant
- my battery drains quickly
- I can't access all my files easily
- I can't edit on the go
- I don't have enough battery to upload and edit and even curate sometimes.
But I've reduced the battery problem now so hopefully can do a bit more..
However once I've stopped the habit of regular uploading I need a push of motivation to continue again (this is where you guys come in! :D)

Loved the #dropthemop video, cause it was a response to me but also because it was genuine. That’s the key of what I like about your creations, like me it’s not a show, it’s a genuine connection.
I go to YouTube to watch shows, I come here to connect with people. Some say talking head but I say I can still read your heart with just the expressions of your face.
My favourite thing to do right now if I cannot think of anything is answering a #dtubesnapr reply to someone’s #dtubesnapq, about as close as you can get to a face to face convo other then a recorded conversation and uploading that 😅.
Best advice, make it work for your time and hardware. Maybe you could purchase a mobile external hdd or something? I use mobile a fair bit and have run into this exact same problem! I have resorted to deletion of the things I am not needing to really save. Yet with my GoPro I simple plug into pc backup delete and go takes maybe 15 mins when I can get to the PC, out for a weekend this does not help me lol so I have multiple cards.

I was watching a drama recently and I was super excited about it but felt like no-one could understand haha and I even shared it on my personal social media and got maybe two responses haha... but I’ll brave that and just share anyway soon enough lolol

No worries, I may not always comment but I noticed you had taken a step away.
I bet you it would have gotten a better response here, I find MS social media to be fake in a sense of actual connection. It’s all about how many likes you get and how many people will agree with you, people do not want to step outside their comfort zone so they refrain from interacting on things that do not suit their interests.
Always happy to support, don’t forget I consider everyone’s success my own in a way especially those I can guide and encourage. We all need a leg up now and again even myself and you have been there for me, I’m just a fellow real human being like yourself and I appreciate all the support you have shown to our fellow Steemians 🙏

Yeh I’m just sad that my normal social media with all my friends don’t get much comment and interactions. They like it and they consume it etc but as a creator we want to know what our viewers think about our work and want them to share their lives too! I had taken a big step away from my normal social media for ages but even when I make a come back there’s no “welcome back” or where have you been? Etc lol. Whereas I love our community here where we have friends who come and say hi how have you been or you’re back! Etc at least I do that if I’ve noticed someone come back after a long time! Haha
I mean I think I should still post in Instagram and fb once in a while cos it’s still good to keep up with friends but sometimes I’m torn because our whole lives are online now and we don’t hang our with people as much in person anymore. Maybe I’ll make that a post for another day haha Thanks for always replying my comments and coming back to check on me :)

As for a mobile HDD hmm I’ve yet to experiment with those cos I have iPhone so it was never able to do that external memory thing (unlike android) but I’m guessing these days anything is possible haha.. maybe I’ll see if I can get an external mobile hdd instead of using iCloud eh? It’s so restrictive that iCloud lol,. But great for when my phone bricks.

I would assume there is something, iCloud works but the server side is definitely slow! I still use it but I also try keep up with what I record as in edit and upload immediately even sometimes turning my phone on low battery to stop the uploads while working with the footage helping to save battery also.

It is a bummer that we can’t upload from the phone ... yet.
But I think if you make short snaps , you can email them to yourself and dL and edit from there. Takes more effort though.
I say keep on doing what you are doing and just build on it. You are doing great and keeping it real.
I personally would like to see more of places in your area , a little Auz culture mixed in with the snapQs

Mobile uploads work with chrome or Firefox browser and posting key login but as @vincy said you must stay on screen till completed hashes and all unless you use the #onelovedtube uploader which seemed to skip the hash creation step and leaves it up to the server to complete the processes correctly.
I agree just keep building, I seriously don’t like picking anything specific. I literally just do what I feel in the moment and trying to plan anything out just adds to the hill I must climb to get it done. Most definitely keep it real!!! Man of the same mind you are 🤙

Yes indeed, I build off the moment myself. I may go to a restaurant and just say " Hay, let me make a video about Japanese ramen, in the spur of the moment" ( that happened to me yesterday:) The next day I may be reading something ina book that I wanna share with others.
But I understand where @vincy is coming from, sometimes you just wanna get that feedback.
Yea safari is a no go for DTube uploads, chrome works well just don’t accidentally refresh the page or lock your phone 🤦♂️
It’s all about the moment in my eyes, my best videos always seem to capture some event I didn’t plan on such as my dog chasing something while I try stay on point lol and what I consider awesome others may not appreciate but as my name implies sometimes I create 💩
Yes, feedback is essential but my creation is and always be what I want to do when I want to do it... has made my weekly contest a challenge as sometimes I just don’t feel it 😅 I am just a human.

Yes I like recording the moment too! Maybe that’s why we get along haha.
I am a compulsive moment recorder and technology just doesn’t keep up with me enough to let me post them all without spamming everyone hahahaa.. well the blockchain is much slower and I don’t want to spam friends too much... I think I have a lot of different social media accounts and use them accordingly in the past going through phases here and there..
One day I hope there’s a good solution for me hahaa..
Live stream can be a good one but also I gotta protect my privacy too lol

I'm gonna try it out today on chrome. I got a snapQ I wanna reply too.... Was gonna do it last night but I got inspired to try and create a music video from a friend's travel clips LOL. Thanks for the info and I shall look out for that contest.

Basically we have our own server running the whole upload, rather then having to wait for the hashes to appear you select your files, enter text, submit and it will upload at that point with an upload bar and that’s that.
Yup separate site but paid subscription based as it enables you to backup your HD videos forever at the same time, I’m not the wiz on this one it’s all techcoderx and graylan I’m just the mouth getting the word out 😅
As I have always said, just do you and be proud of it! Whether I feel like writing or recording I always do what I feel in the moment thus my emotions are encapsulates within my creations and not forced or fake as that’s what I love to consume.
Your brothers story touched me, how even when faced with such a crap situation he still managed to pull off something that was intriguing and not just complaints. That was the whole reason I did my best to help at least show him support 💪

And yes my brother is a very in the moment recorder - he does live streams on fb a lot while traveling. And he also does reflections on his past photos and posts them. But he’s still very in the fb world. He feels it’s too much effort to get to know “new” people on steemit in order to do well etc. and he just cbb atm. I told him all I can and nagged him etc but I just can’t make him do it haha.. he will one day but he’s still young and like fast technology- but don’t we all? Haha

I used to upload from my phone when dtubesnap started but it would take too long if the file was big! And it means I have to stay on the screen and make sure it doesn’t turn off or go anywhere till it uploaded hehe

Hi @vincy - I'm with you on the technical problems. I'm on a laptop so they are all different than yours though lol. I wrote a long post about it and got a lot of help, so you have the right idea with this one.
And I just now posted a huge long post about "How to post daily on dtube" in response to a dtubesnapq. I think it will help you as far as topics go and maybe help with organization.
In my mind - we have to post daily on this blockchain. Video or reqular posts. Few people succeed posting a few times a week.
