You Are In Your 20s And You Don’t Know What To Do With Your Life

It’s so easy to see a culmination of other people’s successes in front of us and assume we could never measure up. And to feel like the work we do every day isn’t worthy of the lives we see flying by with the flick of a thumb.

This is a simple reminder to not buy into the illusion that everyone has it figured out. Because it really is an illusion.

It’s amazing how often we see people with the life we think we want and assume they got there overnight. Or that somehow life is perfect for them.

And we spend our time searching for this magic moment where life will be what we want in an instant.

The life you want starts now…

You can choose how you spend your emotional energy.

You’re either:

  1. Exhausted by the limited perception you have of what’s going on in someone else’s life
  2. Focused on your story and the continual value you give to people

STOP FEELING LOST AND START FINDING SATISFACTION

So, if you’re feeling lost and wondering “what am I doing” or “where am I going”, know that most people are there too.

Maybe you don’t know what major to pick.

Or what job to take.

Or when your frustrating job will end.

Or when your friends will treat you well.

But, right now, we miss out on all you have to offer when you don’t choose to be present.

You chasing after someone else’s story leaves everyone at a loss. We miss the connection and joy and sorrow and wholeness you can bring.

To stop feeling lost, disconnect yourself from everything that’s not a part of your story. To start finding satisfaction, reconnect yourself to where you’re at.

Because it’s great to see that your friend got a high-paying job in your dream city with a beautiful family… but thinking their situation makes you less likely to receive fulfillment is a lie.

Most of us act like if we dream hard enough, then something will change.

Success is something we find because we chase after something greater than ourselves… the present moments within our story and timeline and space.

We will never find success and happiness in a distanced dream or in the life of someone else.

True fulfillment is a direct result of our desire to pursue the goodness in the present moments in front of us.

We encounter profound joy when we pursue something greater than ourselves. And each day one has to commit to small progress that compounds over time.

CREATE IT

IMG_6400.JPG

To begin living with a sense of direction and clarity, you have to practice.

The person you want to become and the lifestyle you want to live will never appear on its own.

You must create it.

And it’s going to be rough at first…

Your first presentation will be terrifying.

Your first book will be exhausting.

Your first _______ will be rough.

But the only way you’re going to get better is to practice.

I’m not an experienced writer. I’ve only written a handful of posts but I know to get my 100th or 1000th article, I need to write my 50th article, I need to write my 250th article, I NEED TO WRITE MY FIRST ARTICLE.

Each day you need to look for small ways to become more of the person that you want to be.

You will never simply wake up and be living the life you want. And you’ll be stuck in misery and insecurity if you spend your time obsessing over someone else’s story.

YOU ARE GOING TO DIE

We need to realize that life is short.

There is a due date.

There is a deadline.

You only get so much time, and then, it’s done.

There are no do-overs or second go-rounds.

Gary Vaynerchuk always talks about these powerful words: You are gonna die.

But don’t let this deter you.

This is fuel.

Pure motivation.

Do not waste your chances.

Do not waste a moment.

Move, act, think, love, laugh, cry.

Find the qualities you want to have when you’ve “made it”, practice them now… in every situation and with everyone you meet and you’ll be on your way.

Happy Steeming! :)

Still. Even with the lure of quick fun I often wonder if there is something out there telling me I should only delay such things for a greater gift in the future. Maybe that is how life works. Then again I could be totally wrong and never know it.

I've read over 100+ posts in the past few days I've been on here, but this one... It really touched my heart, everything, every word you wrote I felt like was describing my thoughts. Amazing.

Especially the present moment, I think it's mainly due to overuse of social media and looking at people who have something we desire, which then makes us feel bad, unworthy and not good enough.

The answer to all our problems really is the present moment, that's the only time we can feel truly happy and if we can then translate that happiness into creativity and create from our soul and heart, that's when the real magic happens and that's when we really move towards our goals.

I also love the fact, that you follow Gary Vee, he's amazing. Thanks for this post, it's incredible. Hope we can talk more sometime. :)

Well, that just made my day! Thank you for the kind words, Benjamin! :)

I agree with the "social media" thing. But then again, it's all about believing in yourself and realizing the fact that life is much more than materialism. We get affected by seeing others doing so good but we don't see what they are doing to get it. HARD WORK.

I'm happy to know that you think the same :) We should definitely talk! #instagram :P

Your blog is definitely underrated!!! Great stories that you right (very motivating) and truly wonderful pictures :) Love! #following
